Why the fuck not? Why would I compare Gakpo and Diaz in 2024-25? Gakpo started less than half of the games that year and Diaz was one of our main creative forces. It was a decidedly different set of circumstances than the one Gakpo faced last year, where he started the majority of our matches and didnāt benefit from having Diaz draw defenders away from him.
Why are you unwilling to accept that last season was a disaster for virtually all attacking players due to the lethargic way we played.
I agree that Diaz offered us more but Cody actually scored 10 not 7 in 24/25
I should delete this with you explaining the years you used for comparisons as it us now useless, but left it in as it is a comparison to you post about stats, useless!
What do you think tells us more about Gakpo - two seasons ago when he was a rotation option on a team with Salah and Diaz as main creative options along the wings, or last year when he started a majority of the matches next to largely the same guys heās playing with next season?

One big change we donāt have the ultra negative Slot holding them back. How many games did we coast through with no attacking intent.

Iām not unwilling to accept that, and itās mind-boggling to me that so many of you would see me post hundreds of times on this board and think I was living under a rock.
I watched Gakpo in isolation on the wing over and over again with a large sample of starts to choose from, and I saw someone who struggled to beat defenders, was tunnel visioned and refused to link up with anyone (including the fullback we bought in part because of his crossing ability - Kerkez), and who was ineffective otherwise.
Yes, the team struggled last year, but Iām not convinced that Gakpo is suited for a high energy system. That the club signed Munoz and are targeting Barcola implies to me that they want someone with pace and high energy to lead their press alongside Rio and Isak. Gakpo just doesnāt seem like heās that guy.

Easy one for your Diaz comparison. Itās two seasons ago when Diaz was actually here, and the team were settled. Rather than last year when they were all shite

My reasons for that comparison are based on my honest perception of their performances within the system I anticipate them playing next year, not because I want to tell a specific story. Iāve posted here long enough without having people accuse me of an agenda.

You making up shit stats because you have been called out for your utter bollox comparing two totally different seasons.
We were more of a higher pressing team in 24/25 than 25/26 and he did far better, so what makes you think he canāt play in a high pressing team.
BTW, Diaz is far more suited to Iraola than Gakpo, but that is because Diaz like Szob has bundles of energy.
