The Walking Eagle thread

I wanted to say was that the winning speach?
He sounded soo Republican.

Getting the virus is bad, but just imagine having to get into a helicopter wearing a mask (which you resisted for eons) to be airlifted to the hospital (hyperbole, potentially, but still technically true) because of the thing that you called a hoax. The ultimate double-whammy.

FT score: COVID 2, Trump 0

So far I think this is actually helping the big steaming T.
Sympathy and concern all around and tax and debate stuff pushed away. If we have any more debates any attacks on him will be painted as unfair etc and he will generally be given an even easier ride by media. Biden campaign stupidly pulling back the ‘attack’ adds - not that T side will do likewise. All up looking like this will help his campaign and make it harder when it comes time to remove him from the white house. Only hope really is that he dies, and does so quickly.

I think timing makes a difference - Boris got it relatively early, so people are more likely to forgive him. Not so sure they would if he fell ill now.

Tbf, that’s the whole Conservative mind set. It’s all just ‘them’ until it’s ‘me/us’.

Just saw it mentioned that Trump wasn’t tested at the debate as he arrived too late.

Generally I’d agree that he would elicit sympathy from the general public, but given his gross mismanagement of the crisis I’m not so sure. And I’m sure as soon as Trump fires the first negative attack (ending the cease-fire, if you will) that Biden will be straight back at it.

I would probably agree more with redfanman that — had he got it earlier on and been openly vulnerable and actually taking it seriously — he’d have a better shot at getting people on his side. Given his gross mismanagement of the crisis, as well as the revelations of the last couple of weeks illustrating his outright negligence in terms of downplaying it, though, I think the electorate is more hardened than before.

You would hope. I actually think those that wouldn’t vote for him still wont. Perhaps a few that are undecided might drift towards Biden now.

However, those that support him will still likely support him. Personally I would like to hear what the Trump supporting Covid deniers have to say. That could be fun.

Oh definitely. I think a number of them (deep down) know they messed up, but disavowing Trump would mean that they’d have to admit such a thing. And, in my experience, many people are too stubborn. :man_shrugging:

Of course, there are others who do genuinely believe in many of these batshit crazy things.

It appeals to my childish sense of humour.

I just a clip of him getting off the helicopter. he didn’t seem to have the hoppety skippety walk of someone with a sopping wet arse.

For the greater good, I hope he fucking dies  :+1:t2:

The rumour is that it was in the helicopter. What makes it a peculiar rumour is the White House source attribution. It won’t make the press for obvious reasons, but it is the kind of thing that suggests he is losing his own people.

Or maybe the Marines just don’t like it when you shit in their chopper

The sheer incompetence is mindblowing. A third GOP Senator positive now.

Much as I like a joke, I’d never wish death on anybody but murderers, rapist and nasty thieves.

Apparently, Amy Coney Barrett has already had COVID-19. Would be a real screamer if she contracted it again from this event. Should be tested, surely.

They don’t believe in social distancing, do they???
