A thought crossed my mind: any chance that he’s faking all this, in the hope that it will boost his popularity and get him nearer to Biden in the polls?

Just have to see the impact it had for opinion polls for Johnson. Polls did not go down, if anything despite the incompetence he got a positive surge.

It will be spun into the president working hard from his hospital bed, that he has a human side, that he is strong and fought it off.

There is some irony though as a year ago to the day he was mocking Clinton for having pneumonia.

Isn’t it a bit of a miracle that his tax story has already dissappeared from the media completely? I’m not sure what to make of it tbh.

Edit… Why should one give an experimental cocktail to someone with only mild symptoms?

To be fair, they made a long and concerted effort to claim she was critically ill and unfit for office in a general sense, and then when came down with pneumonia they laughed it off and called it a cover for something more serious. The oh so serious and balanced Washington press corp then jumped all over clinton trying to continue her campaign despite getting sick by suggesting this part of a pattern of deceit from her in which she cannot be honest with the American people.

On facebook a friend of mine seems to find irony at “liberals” questioning whether he really has it given how insistent they are that this pandemic is real. Her mother then chimes in and claims that truthfulness of Trump’s positive diagnosis is further evidence that this whole thing is a hoax.

@Hope.in.your.heart my initial thought was that this is a work, but now I’m not so sure. Trump has spend the summer showing that he doesn’t see the virus as much of a threat, so for him to do this now would appear to weaken his position. That said, it does have the benefit of putting the tax bullshit and the debate catastrophe in the rear view mirror, so who the fuck knows at this point?

DC friend of mine (old school GOP in fact) just told me that Trump apparently has a fever, cough, and congestion and has declined over the day. This might be a good time to have a press secretary with a scrap of credibility left, but that ship has sailed.

Three WH press members now also positive, and likely a significant number of West Wing staff. This is laughably incompetent, it appears the SC nomination event was a ‘super-spreader’. These people don’t have the sense of shame to be as embarrassed as they should be.

I have to commend the simulation writers for this. They wrote themselves into a corner with 2020, but have found an amazingly ironic and sophisticated way to bring it to a conclusion.

Bravo, good sirs. Bravo.

You couldn’t make this up… :upside_down_face:

It is becoming comical how each of these GOP press releases, usually from people who have refused to observe restrictions and mock using masks, etc., uses the phrase ‘out of an abundance of caution’ to explain what they are doing now that the probable has come to pass.

That was a good speech from him, came across presidential.

Could only imagine how trump would have responded if roles were reversed.
