still hard to believe they tried to make ‘you’re a bad person if you don’t wish the president well’ stick

the LaBouR aNTiSeMiTiSM crowd is now worried about the unspeakable menace of ‘tropes’ being used in jokes about stephen miller getting covid–if you say the virus went from bats to humans and now back to bats, in the form of miller, that’s a trope, and you’re the nazi

miller didn’t get it from his wife when she had it, but got it at work. what a cuck

Is that real though? I saw lots of “oh my god, these people are so disingenuous with their well wishes to the president”, or “see, these well wishes prove they dont really think as badly about him as they want you to believe”. Justified disagreement with those positions doesnt equate to requiring that everyone publicly wishes him well.

Nah, at least one Republican campaign manager was trying to make hay about Biden’s ‘failure’ to express well wishes to Trump until the following morning - when the confirmation broke very late at night. There was a definite effort to make it a required genuflection.

Fair enough. I maybe have a blind spot to even acknowledging the existence of the bad faith arguments from those groups.

just among people on the right, saw norm mcdonald’s tweet about it just now and was reminded of it

they tried scolding, then trump made sure to demonstrate why he deserves no goodwill as soon as he opened his mouth

The old SNL comedian?!?

reverence isn’t really a hallmark of great comedy

I’m confused…are you saying Sweeting’s a Nazi? Is Stephen Miller supposed to be a bat or something?

Sorry couldn’t resist.

Didn’t feel like Sparticus meme was quite the right fit

I’m pretty sure we would have seen Trump gasping for air pre-COVID after climbing stairs. This is the guy who insisted a golf cart carry him a couple of hundred meters at a G-20 summit while all the other leaders walked. Not exactly a cardiovascular powerhouse…

Yeah, it is the abdominal breathing that is troublesome, not the fact that he is pathetically out of shape.

The focus may be on Trump, but he’s bound to survive. Seems the early intervention made an impact, and the steroids should keep him free of the cytokine storm. Not that there couldn’t be medium term aftereffects. Of course, there could be. Will be interesting to see how his energy is in the debate, should it occur.

The guy to worry about is Chris Christie, former New Jersey governor. Fifty-eight, morbidly obese and asthmatic since childhood. He debate prepped Trump, was hospitalized a day after Trump. There’s been scant reporting on his condition.

quarantine & the exploitive restaurant delivery services have me the heaviest i’ve ever been, i’m a fat slob

christie had gastric bypass surgery and the result is that he still looks like jiminy glick. i would not be surprised if he died

if you left him to his own devices trump’s dumber than some dogs and would probably end up dying, but he’s in the white house

He was apparently asymptomatic and went in only as a precaution. However, you know they have a massive imperative to try to hide any bad outcomes from this. Of course, the alternative somewhat funny interpretation is that this is a reflection of how little a shit anyone gives about him. I thought it was hilarious that he only found out about what was happening through CNN rather than through anyone on the Trump team. This guy just keeps debasing himself for a man he once aggressively opposed.

But I think the reality is that the Demographic that gets the senior government positions that gets presidential access is one that will not fare well from this. We’re now up to about 25 known cases in this cluster, and we’re rapidly approaching the point of statistical certainty that one of them dies.

the debate prep lunge was so desperate, it was like a callback to the 2016 campaign

christie got a reputation for being ‘honest’ by bullying schoolteachers at town halls. he deserves the rona for that & bridgegate, not for being cartoonishly rotund

With the revolving door of detestable characters that this white house has it can be difficult to keep up, but Bill Stepien, the guy who took over Trump’s campaign when they fired the Parscale, is actually the guy who led Bridgegate. Few in the GOP opposed and criticized Trump in 15-16 as much as Cruz and Christie, yet both have utterly debased themselves in service of his presidency, and senior people from their then teams who were responsible for throwing some of that heat are now completely embedded in central roles in his admin/campaign (for those who dont remember Kelly Anne Conways was the head of Cruz’s campaign.

EDIT: Oh, and Stepien has Covid as well.

trump called cruz’s wife ‘ugly’. he told people to ‘vote their conscience’ during their convention, announced carly fiorina as a running mate,…and then in the end he phone banked for trump with a pathetic look on his face

now i remember that part of the story with christie coming & going during the campaign was that kushner hated him, supposedly

he’s a lot smarter than kushner, and trump is obviously quite impressionable, so it would follow that kushner would hate him

So the white house is now the Covid House.
Whose going to be responsible for decontaminating the covid house for the next president?
I have a feeling it’s deliberate now that Trump knows he’s going to lose (or not as the case may be at least he will have already had it or that’s what he thinks).
