The betting market for elections are dumb. It’s full of counter factual takes and people hedging on high odds bets.

I will not feel confident that Biden will win before the votes have been counted, unless it is a massive landslide and so is immediately apparent (which it should be in any functioning democracy), since Trump and at least his true cultists are bound to create a lot of problem if they only lose marginally (I expect a lot of Republicans to admit defeat, but not all, not after Trump has legitimized Qanon and other bat shit crazy nationalists). I am not even sure he will accept a defeat as he is no democrat. With landslide I mean 3/4 win. Winning with 9 percent is no landslide despite American media using that term. Beating Trump with less than at least a 15% margin would be horrible. GOP should, in any functioning democracy, be wiped out and relegated to the gutter where they belong, so that a new, actually conservative, party can arise from the ashes of that ex-conservative party that is now a nationalist populist party.

A narrow Biden win will only cause a lot, lot of problems for the future and will damn the US in the eyes of most of the world. I am a pessimist, much too disappointed with the US to have any real hope.

A very close finish will be possibly “nasty”

“I’m the most sensitive person in this country to Russian involvement and the Chinese rigged it” etc etc etc.

A close finish, with just a few electoral votes to Biden in particular (Biden if he loses will admit defeat like a normal democratic politician and I am not talking about parties here) , will be dangerous since I think the incumbent would do absolutely anything to dispute the legitimacy of a narrow Biden win, legal and illegal.

a 9% win would be quite decisive i think as I would imagine it would include Biden picking up some of the key swing states. It will take a massive level of gerrymandering to stop Biden winning, given the scale of early voting I’m not sure Trump’s supporters could pull that sort of feat off.

Sure, but my criticism is more about a society where 30% manages to vote for the devil, after the devil has proved himself to be a devil. It makes me lose absolutely all faith in America and I really, really don’t think I am the only one who thinks that.
But I agree, that a 9% win will be indisputable even for Trump. But it is the state of the US that I am worried about as well as its cultural direction.

It appears a large number, but i imagine a lot of those voters will be voting on automatic because he is on the Republican ticket. If Biden wins as is being predicted (Nate Silver gave Trump a 13% chance of winning) then i would expect a lot of those people voting Trump to just get on with their lives. It will be only a small number who may kick off - and i wouldn’t be surprised if they just slink off.

We shall see. I too think (also said it above) that the majority of republicans will admit defeat. The minority is very dangerous though.
But we shall see.
