Sure, if he wasn’t president then he’d probably be a lawyer, he had a great super genius uncle you know, so he might just represent himself.
It’s true to form. He loves firing people for little or no reason, but you have to wonder why they were in dispute about tactics. Surely it’s clear cut that he won’t be convicted with the Republicans fearful of his fans, so why the drama?
It appears that the defence wanted to provide some support and cover for GOP Senators to argue that conviction for the attack was unfair - admitting that he made some errors, but things went too far and beyond his control. He seems to have rejected the idea that he should have any sort of mea culpa at all. So GOP Senators will be given a choice of a complete and unqualified endorsement of his position, or conviction.
That makes sense and fits his MO. Are Republicans in the Senate not solidly behind him though?
There are degrees - 5 have already voted to have it go to trial. There are some who will never vote to convict, but there are certainly some who might be available - particularly if they are facing re-election in two years in divided states. Portman (R-OH) just announced his retirement, so he won’t be afraid of Trump’s base.
I don’t see a path to 67 yet, but the Democrats at the very least are going to want to make them bleed for their acquittal votes. It would appear thatTrump is actually helping them in that regard.
All five lawyers have now left his legal defence team, according to rumour because he is insisting that his defence be based on making the case that the election was stolen. That would more or less explain the mass departure, because an attorney who argued that case could very easily find themselves in professional peril.
Yes, it’s great that he’s a narcissist in this case. By pushing people to blatantly lie for him he’s making their positions untenable. Let’s hope he keeps it going.
Has a democratically elected world leader ever been so psychologically unqualified to lead?
We giggle at the Trump Baby float and all that, but seriously, the cunt has as much emotional intelligence or capacity for self-reflection as a toddler. It is quite fascinating, to be honest.
I used to think it was 100% about the grift…his insistence to stick to the story, even when acquittal is virtually guaranteed gives me pause.
I cant get my head around how he can be clever enough to find a crack in US politics and society, rip it open and create such a massive rift yet be as thick as 2 planks at the same time.
- The crack is pretty wide to notice
- He had many clever people around
Myanmar - Trump’s wet dream made reality
He had to play to it though. He knows the game and played it really well.
Is he doing anything different to what he has always done? I suspect not.
No, is it pure coincidence that he knows how to appeal to a certain sector of the population and then milk it and he’s 2 short planks at the same time.
or am I giving too much credence to the idea that to effectively con lots of people you need to be intelligent?
Jared Kushner has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize…!
Is this a joke that has been put out there…?
This can’t be real. This just can’t be real.
It is real.
Nominated by Alan Dershowitz, an extremely vocal Trump supporter.
Absolutely but it was how he got into that position and maintained it, grew it also.
Crazy
Quite possible but he managed to build up one hell of a head of steam.
yeah, he’s built up quite a false reputation. Again, how has he managed that?
I’m still astounded that someone who makes Homer Simpson look like Einstein was able to think up and pull this stunt off.
