The Walking Eagle thread

Unfortunately, this is not new. America has an awful history of this sort of medical mistreatment of non-whites.

Not as if history is without infamous physicians.

I don’t disagree with you, I guess I’m just having a hard time believing something so heinous is going on under government supervision involving qualified medical professionals. We’ll see how it all shakes out.

this seems like an excellent sign for biden, and his polling lead is stable nationally

imo trump has alienated too many old white people with his bungling of covid 19, they’re gonna have to steal it for him to win

been a century or longer since we had real election-related violence in this country, hard to see that continuing

first response, one of the worst things about biden winning (other than the inevitable 2022 midterm massacre) is the vindication voter-shaming shitheads like this will feel

The midterm massacre would be expected no matter who’d gotten the Democrat nomination.

:exploding_head:

never would’ve guessed

horse girl/finance bride/seven figure journalist soledad o’brien had a little meltdown over biden tweeting ‘scranton vs park avenue’ last night, then this stephanie ruhle segment popped up

ruhle also had a meltdown when one of betsy devos’ yachts was set adrift, and had the former republican congressman who lost in 2018 on the other night to blame bernie sanders for biden’s relative struggles with florida latinos

you worked in finance, lady. you weren’t in a f–king coal mine. pretty sure you millionaires will be fine either way, get a grip

i mean look at this rando get swarmed by people rushing to that grotesquely out of touch hack’s defense

they’ve got a long way to go to match the corrosive influence of fox news, but MSNBC is poisoning the brains of boomers too

News just reported that Justice Ruth Ginsburg lost battle with cancer.

I’m sure Mitch McConnell will faithfully adhere to his principled opposition to filling a Supreme Court vacancy so close to the election.

(For the record, Merrick Garland was nominated on March 16, 2016).

Wow, McConnell has already put out a statement saying he fully intends to ram through a Trump appointment.

The solution to this will have to be appointing 4 justices, echoing FDR.

a replacement for ginsburg would mean a majority of justices appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote (and i don’t think bush even won the electoral college, frankly)

mildly surprised mcconnell chose to announce his intentions tonight, but this is always what he was going to do

the white feminist meltdown is mildly ironic considering that hillary clinton and ginsburg herself are most responsible for the country being in this position–ginsburg wanted a woman to appoint her replacement even though she was 76 and already a cancer survivor in 2009, and hillary faceplanted against a game show host whose campaign her own people’s ‘pied piper’ strategy elevated in the GOP primary

these toxic khive freaks absolutely deserve to have ‘pro-life’ men with kyle rittenhouse p4ps gravedancing in their faces, it’s not much of a silver lining, but at some point you’d think they’d consider the possibility that the candidate, rather than the voters, failed

Who says it cannot be both?

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK albeit not surprised. Fully recognizing that 2020 has been much much more devastating to millions in myriad ways, but honestly don’t know what my mental health situation would be like if we didn’t win the League this year.

Just an absolutely terrible human being — my least favorite person level with Trump. I don’t say this lightly but I hope he burns in hell. His own daughters have basically revolted against him (his one daughter works for Take Back Wall Street, which is about the furthest thing from a McConnell-backed effort). No principles, no dignity. Fucking piece of shit.

ginsburg officiated a wedding on 8/31 (31/8 over there my bad) btw

He has long ago acknowledged he would do this, and they’ve been test driving arguments for why this isnt a contradiction to their stance on Garland for about 6 months.

I think the one saving grace here is that it is shaping up to be a difficult year in the senate for the GOP and the focus on self preservation may push enough of them to refuse to get on board with this. However, I think with people like Machin and Jones you also have to plan for the Dem caucus not being completely unified.

Just when you thought US politics couldn’t sink any lower. Is there absolutely no-one in the Republican party with any principles at all? The blatant hypocrisy and double standards are appalling.
Ginsburg should have resigned the day after Obama took office though. I will never understand why she didn’t, and it’s a stain on her otherwise proud legacy.

I’m pretty sure if the roles were reversed, Dems would also move forward to try to confirm a nomination. A Supreme Court vacancy is too juicy a prize for either side to ignore.

It’s not a case of ignoring. Obama still had months of his presidency left when the Republicans refused to deal. If it wasn’t enough time then, it certainly isn’t enough time now. Pretty basic stuff.
