Place excess tomatoes in a jar, quash as many in as poss…pour in a small amount of veg oil and a pinch of salt…replace lid on jar tight…turn upside down for 20 mins…and store away…use in Dec/Jan for pasta sauce…we’ve got about 20 now…that’s how many extra tomatoes mester wilkored08 has grown.
for real? can you send me a pic of this? we’ve been blanching them an storing in ziploc in freezer
the tomatoes don’t go off sitting in a jar that long? do you have to wash them in a vinegar solution first?
curious…I have 20-25lb sitting outside in baskets right now. and another 10lb sitting green in the garden not yet ripened.
Same recipe, better photo

What are those long, green things on the right?
Karela/Bitter Melon?
It.s also called Bitter Gourd. My Mum used to like it.
I thought it’s available only in tropical region. One of my favorite vegetables. Love the fries or the curry with lentil. What’s that with a smooth skin?
Japanese/chinese??? Cucumbers…
About 10kg of tomatoes ends up making a 7kg pan of lasagna after processing and cooking the sauce for a few hours to thicken it. 3 batches of that number of tomato to make a pot of sauce. From skillet to sauce pot
Men and their produce…
Looks yummy…!
Not sure it matters but are the grilling trays upside down on the runners…
Hey, I can’t help being a stickler for detail… :0)
When are the Come Dine with Me invitations being sent out…
am literally feeding my family with my garden. carrots, zucchini, cucumber, kale, lettuce, tomatoes, beets, peas, leeks, peppers, and a couple of the five-leafed varietals in the greenhouse for mom&dad.
Wife loves it, we eat very healthy this time of year and we’ve saved hundred of dollars on vegetables which are normally trucked in from SoCal and Mexico most of the year.
no sir, the front bump there keeps the trays from hitting the convection fan shroud behind.
back of the trays have a lip to prevent from coming out the front.
Bet your freezers full aswell.
not as much as i’d hoped, our zucchini did poorly this year. and the pepper plants that did manage to germinate died as we had a very late start to summer…
Once the kale gets cut though it’ll take up a lot of space. can you send me the details on how exactly you jar those tomatoes? that looks interesting and I’d like to try it with some of the leftover ones outside.
