Thiago ALCANTARA: 2020/21

Feel he’s as good as Gini and Curtis so far. Would have liked to see him be one of our better players for the build up to his transfer but have yet to see. He does slow our counter attacks though, drives me mad. Everyone rushing forward , opposition outnumbered at the back and he will go backwards or sidewards.

You mean Wijnaldum?

Best game in the red shirt so far.

Yeah he was excellent with Fabinho.

Had “everybody was Kung Fu fighting” playing in my head for about ten minutes after that pass!

I was gutted it didn’t create a goal.

Thiago is such a monster on European nights. The monstrosity of English games just doesn’t suit him.

Fantastic vision and accuracy. We don’t have that from any other midfielder. Maybe Keita in flashes.

Thiago was excellent tonight, the problem is it’s back to playing against three London Buses, parked across the pitch in the Premier League next week.

Oh yeh I forgot, and referees who are desperate to yellow card him within the first few minutes of every game.

We are playing Wolves aren’t we? That’s a bit of a different animal than most of these negative, park-the-bus teams. I’m sure that they’ll play cleverly against us, but not necessarily by parking the bus all the time. It’s not really their style.

Another of the many benefits of having Fabinho back in midfield is that it frees up this guy to do the sort of things he was doing last night. That’s why we bought him. Stick him in there alongside Fab/Gini or Henderson and we’ll see him at his best.

or dominate the midfield and we don’t have to worry so much about the defense, particularly as we have Alli in goal!

Must have been the most surprised, completely got at them at times but once a yellow was given he isn’t going to stay on, was odd as he was effective at times but also shocking, I remember a simple pass with no pace bouncing off him 15 yards.

Werid as I wouldn’t say he was crap but it was several levels down on his excellent one last week and yet still without a yellow I’d have kept him on as he has double the energy of some others out there.

Never understood that signing and now he is playing completely different to how he played in his first few games for us.

As if he is trying to proof that he can play on that high intensity level and can cope with the physical and faster game.

He was crap in other games too but in each game he had his moments with some phenomenal passes, vision and movement - very few but he had them.

I think he will get used to our and PL style. Spanish and German leagues are totally different than what he is facing here.

But until he gets used to Premier League, he can only be useful in European games.

The lack of understanding and respect to Thiago from our fans is shocking.

Yes I think he’s trying too hard. His tackling is hopeless and he’s walking a fine line on getting sent off for persistent fouling. There’s nothing malicious in him. He’s just rushing in the whole time. Can’t stay on his feet.

At the moment he’s looking like an expensive luxury. No denying his quality on the ball but we’ve not seen enough of it yet to justify the signing.
