Thiago ALCANTARA: 2020/21

Oh, you mean a repeat of the 2019-20 season :sunglasses:

Nah, the best of 18-19 and 19-20 season.

Probably the best midfield performance of the season from any of our players.

Donā€™t forget, heā€™s only playing for Liverpool reserves at the moment. Wait until heā€™s playing for the 1st team, next season.

Our best player today, no doubt, especially as the game went on. I couldnā€™t believe how many balls we gave away or played inaccurately in the final third. A lot of it was either overhit or simply inaccurate. He was the rare shining light among that chaos. In some actions when he found himself more from the left, the quality was immediate. I hope Klopp plays him there more next season when we get back to our normal strongest XI. Absolute joy to watch when he performs like that.

You mean before the assassinā€™s from Goodison Park, destroyed our season? Because Thiago was actually playing well at that time.

Highlights of his game against WBA, the pass on 1:40 was my fave such vision

That pass was ridiculous. I remember thinking live ā€˜ā€˜oh no heā€™s fucked hereā€™ā€™ then he pulled that pass out under pressure and I was just scratching my head in amazement. Bobby wasnā€™t even on the bloody screen. Normal footballers just donā€™t do that. That pass isnā€™t even an option for them with their back to goal at the edge of the box last man under pressure. Thatā€™s different gravy.

Heā€™s got a very extravagant step over. My girlfriend knows nothing about football, saw him do it the first time and asked why he does it. About 5 minutes later she nods and says ā€œoh, thatā€™s why.ā€

The thing for me wasnā€™t just the vision but also that it was a pass on the floor to feet. I have had a few disagreements with others throughout this season regarding Thiago and for me where he differs from most of our players is he looks to pass on the floor to feet and our movement needs to adapt to this because a lot of the time they are looking for a lofted ball over the top, which against low block teams isnā€™t on.

A cautionary tale when it comes to listening to the pervasive narrative driven by people like Martin Tyler and Gary Neville. This is the guy that was a massive problem a couple of months ago, the sole reason Liverpool were struggling.

Could have fooled me. Heā€™s mustard.

Some of the passes he plays are ridiculous. Plays thro defenders as if they arenā€™t there

And the other problem is our supporters listen to their crap and perpetuate their thoughts

I was like ffs with one and went oh how the hell, that one for Trent was sublime.

I think next couple of seasons he could be massive for us

He was outstanding again tonight, man of the match for me, despite Natā€™s performance. Like Iā€™ve said before, wait until heā€™s playing for the 1st team next season, instead of the reserves.

I know people love The Nat Phillips Story, but Thiago was the best player on the pitch tonight by a mile. Itā€™s like he sees everything in Bullet Time and has a second pair of eyes floating fifty meters above the pitch. Unreal player.

I lost count the amount of times he retained possession under pressure or from a dodgy pass, then gave it to one of our ayers who proceeded to give it straight back to Burnley with a bad pass or poor control.

Quality player need other technical players around him!

And an understanding of his game. Many players do not realise that he CAN make a perfect pass to you from where he is, which seems impossible and something our players arenā€™t used to. But he fcking can from any tight situation and angle. Once the wavelength matches, lot of these passes will lead to some excellent chances.
