Lots on here talked the same shite, I have always been a believer
I am getting worried that we are playing him too much even though I love seeing him, just scared that he gets injured as he puts everything into the game
You guys reckon he is the best technical player to ever play for us? The passing, control, the little foot movements and feints are incredible.
I doubt he plays against Everton.
One of the rare times I didnāt agree with John Barnes!
Interesting who will start that game in midfield, personally I canāt wait for the 5 sub rule change next year easier for us to manage players more
Unplayable last night, no words can do justice to the show he put on. Anyone who didnāt watch it live, missed out on one of the best midfield performances ever at Anfield.
There was s tweet last night that summed him up.
Shania Twain is impressed by Thiagoā¦
For me, the best midfielder Iāve witnessed in that regard is Xabi (my all-time favourite player at LFC). But now, Iām seriously tempted to replace him with Thiago.
What makes him so impressive is his acceleration when on the ball, and under pressure. He can easily gain a yard on a pressing opponent, and make space for himself to then quickly unleash one of his Xabi-type, millimetric passes. In terms of vision, Iād say that heās even slightly superior to Xabi, which is really saying something! He needs less time and space to see a situation and launch a forward. Of course, one could also say that he has a forward line a player like him can only dream of: permanent movement ahead of him, three players willing to burst a gut at any given time. That makes it easier than for Xabi at the time.
Defensively, he works as well as Xabi, if not better. His recovering pace is superior to the Basqueās, and his aggressiveness when trying to recover the ball is impressive. No wonder Guardiola saw him as one of his key players at the time.
Xabi was an absolute beauty to witness at the time, and he was invaluable for the team, because always available and never injured. But Thiago is an absolute Rolls Royce when on song.
Interviewer: āThiago tonight?ā
Jurgen: cracks a huge smile āYeah, not badā
Repeating what I read!!! Scroll past next timeā¦!
Yep. Itās easy to admire the pure talent, but what I have always found so impressive is that in terms of application he is comparable to a player like Hendo. There is every reason for him to be a primadona - he was born rich and with talent that was always going to make the game easy, yet heās got a real blue collar, just one of the lads, attitude to the game and shows up every day. I just love him.
You have to put everything else in a freeze-frame to realize what Thiago does and how he does that. In the normal hustle of a game, itās often difficult, nay impossible, for mere mortals to appreciate his pervasive, almost precognitive, vision, his split-second, almost intuitive, decision making, and his silky, almost effortless, passing.
Yesterdayās game was perfect to realize what Thiago does and how he does that. With the United players a second behind in his timeline, I could see how he could pick out Salah from forty meters among a clutter of opposition players. This is beyond magical and as close as something divine.
I didnāt watch Thiago before we signed him. I was rather annoyed when he was being hyped and compared with Xabi Alonso. I had watched Xabi in his prime and he is one of the very few players I had followed even after he left Liverpool. He was sublime, he was majestic, he was enchanting. Thiago is no Xabi, but he is without any doubt in the same class.
Just think that Utd were this close [fingers nearly touching] to getting him in summer 2013 before he moved to Bayern, but Moyes wasnt convinced he could cut it in the Prem so they bought Felliani instead (and paid 10 million more).
If he does play on Sunday, thereās every possibility, he wonāt play again this season. Richarlison was responsible for Thiago missing a few months of last season.
I was actually worried as Thiago was not moving as freely 5 minutes before he was subāded off. His hands on his knees several times, also saw him talked to Hendo and looking towards the bench.
During a post match interview with Klopp on Thiago:
On whether there were any fitness concerns behind the substitution of Thiago Alcantaraā¦:
āHe ripped his pants! No, shorts⦠afterwards he told me. I didnāt get that. I thought it was something else, but obviously that was fine.ā

Haha. He went to ground to win a tackle and came up holding his arse. It looked like a hamstring issue and Hendo immediately went over to check on him and motioned to the bench to get a sub on. Thiago was remonstrating back to the bench that he was ok, but kept holding the back of his leg. Now we know why
