He’s…my guy. So good.

That thing he did at some point in the second half; under pressure from Mahrez, takes it down on his chest, gets away from him and launches a 40-50 yard pass with the outside to Salah. Baller.

Frank LeBeuouf was the pitchside analyst for the US coverage. Apparently it was the first time he’s ever seen Thiago live and couldnt stop talking about what an experience it was to watch him from pitchside. It didnt matter what the question was, his answer was to talk about how good thiago is :joy:

What can you say about Thiago today? He was just outstanding, no more to be said.

It wasn’t the pass, which was excellent it was how he shielded to ball to chest it down away from the challenging player that was a level above everyone. Most players would have just headed it, his awareness is off the chart

He’s some footballer, not seen a midfielder with such class. I’d take him over a peak Alonso.

Thiago was always a class player. But what strikes me is Klopp and his team’s effort on working on his fitness/past injuries is paying off. His availability has been really critical this season where we couldn’t ask for more games.

His is 31 and not getting younger anymore. Hopefully the work done on him in the last couple of years will yield results this season and in the next few.

Some Bayern executive is currently on phone with Mikey, pleading for few more quids.

Nah… he slows the game down.

Strong. Very strong.

Absolutely glorious and he isn’t bad looking.

I wont proclaim to have watched alot of Thiago before he joined, but I was aware that he was held in high regard. When we played Bayern a couple of seasons ago he didn’t stand out/catch my eye but seriously, how technically gifted is he.
He is so comfortable in possession, using his technique and body movement to free up space, gain the extra yard. He also has a great range of passing and plays the ball equally well with either foot.
What I really like about him is his ability to break up play. I remember his first season with us, he was guilty of giving away stupid free kicks - for various reasons and not all his fault - but he is an intelligent footballer and has really refined this area of his game in the PL.
He has just turned 31, however, I personally believe (barring injuries) he can play his role for another 4 years. And, personally I would feel privileged to see this.

I’ve a utd mate, who opinion I have always respected, unfortunately for him last year, he used to say, ā€œThiago slows down the play too muchā€

Wasn’t drinking with him tonight, but he text me going " I was so wrong"

One of the best performance of I’ve seen of any Liverpool player in my life tonight. Reckless

Well that was just ridiculous. It wasn’t just the brilliant passing and movement. What amazed me most was the number of times he won the ball back and how he did it. It’s not in any coaching manual. I swear I saw him do the splits at one point and come away with the ball. He needs to be wrapped up in an enormous ball of cotton wool and unrolled on a match day. Unbelievable footballer.

I doubt bayern fans made a song about him.

From a purely statistical point of view, Thiago is the best midfielder in the world this season and the gap is pretty significant (I have previously compared him to all U26s ie. Potential signings but the same holds true in all age groups).
