Thiago would have either started or out of the match day squad altogether though? As opposed to a switch between starting and the bench.

They would have prepared on Thursday and Friday on the basis Thiago starts. Giving that the best chance of happening on the day is obvious and no slight on Naby.

Well, no. For a start you probably donât know how often players do play with these injections (I donât but I imagine it happens more than just yesterday). The intention was always for Thiago to play if he could because (and I think we agree) he is the better player.

I appreciate and respect differing viewpoints but it doesnât change my own.
We are 4 years on with Naby. No slight to him is right. The Boss knows what he has, and he rather go with Thiago with a pain injection in his foot than start Naby.
Neither of you or myself are in the room, so not sure either of those are any more right than my own.

Just found out that the upper narcist Louis van Gaal called up van Dijk just because he had to listen to the evaluation of the Germany match and while he is there he must play the Belgium match and wait for that evaluation too. After that, he can go on vacation âŠ

Thiago is probably the best central midfielder in the world on current form, and even just natural talent. You do everything you can to get a guy like that in the team.

Was he? He was picked for the Spanish team but was later withdrawn after the CL final.
He is always in the squad when available, but rarely starts for them.
He was included in the squad but then picked up an injury.
