Would be a shame not to see a Modric v Thiago battle.
Real shame indeed, itâs something Iâd love to see. And terrible for Thiago himself if he misses out, he deserves to feature in this game.
Pun intended?
Iâm not that kind of guy.
Wouldnât be a shame if it was Modric who was injured.
Did not see anything in English on this but Klopp was asked by some German reporters about the Thiago situation pre match.
Looked like Thiago was not really injured but was under pain so they brought in an expert from Spain (probably someone who knows Thiagos injury history) and he told Klopp that Thiago will get an injection and should be fine for the final.
Unfortunately at warm up Thiagos foot was too numb because of the painkiller injection and thatâs why we decided that Naby will replace him.
Decision was reversed because of the 36 minutes delay.
Tbh, I said during the game that Thiago was playing like he had had painkilling injections. You could see from his touches and passing he just had zero âfeelâ.
Yeh, something wasnât quite right with him. His passing was off, many with too much pace on the ball.
Wow , I wasnât aware of any of that. Shows just how critical he is to the team now.
If that is the case, then whoever dosed up the injection got if spectacularly wrong.
No way should it have left him feeling completely numb. Numb enough to not feel pain when running or putting overt pressure on it yes, but anything beyond that is overkill, unless he was injured worse than we have been led to believe
To every good pass made by RM Thiago made 3 or more what is this nonsense?
This lynching is just ungrateful claptrap, FFS weâre better than this surely?
I thought the days of giving players pain killing injections, so they can play, were in the past. Obviously I was wrong.
Thought it was the wrong decision, but easy with hindsight. Especially as when Keita did come on he was terrible.
Looking forward to Elliot and Jones stepping up next season to be that creative force in our midfield.

Which highlights a conundrumâŠ.We can look at it one of two ways:
The Boss wanted Thiago to start this match, even with a painkilling injection, because Thiago is simply that important
Or
The Boss wanted Thiago to start this match, even with a painkilling injection, because he didnât trust Naby to start the Champions League final

I donât think the decision on Thiago should be used as an argument to say Keita isnât trusted.
If you have an important player carrying an injury into a game, you probably donât want to be bringing him off of the bench in case the injury flares up. Your more likely wanting him to start, especially if it is a match that could go to extra time and penalties so that the risk of him coming off when you have no subs left is minimized.

It wasnât a sweeping indictment on Naby, but at the same time it shouldnât be downplayed. Itâs very telling IMO.
Youâre risking starting a player with a pain injection in the biggest match of the year, because you donât really trust the next man up to start.
