@Flobs Is there a new rule / law about how many kids are allowed in a French hotel with their parents now please? Came up over dinner last night. I smelled a tall story to justify staying in a posh hotel but kept my mouth shut. “Apparently” only one child allowed in a hotel with 2 parents in certain types of hotel? Cheers
It seems to me that you make the rules up as you go along in French hotellerie. So if you want yes.
I’ve been told loads of porkies since I started (I think it’s so as to try and make me accept undisireable clients as they think that’s the way to fill the hotel up).
One thing I can garantee you the software I use doesn’t allow me to enregister 3 adults in a room with 3 beds one has to be a child.
I have had a blast. My friend’s younger brother is a right charismatic character. He is a professional DJ and went to places i never thought i would hear certain types of music, Guinae-Bissau, Cape Verde, Brazilian Afro-beats. Beleza is the place, went 3 times. I got asked to dance by 3 guys, i politely said no
I have never been out so late ( in all my life) in all the days i have been here, almost every night till 5 am. My hosts don’t let me rest, i didn’t look at my kindle once.
.
Went to Portinho de Arabbia yesterday morning, coastal drive is amazing all day loved it, paying for it with sunburn now.
I will miss the no 28 tram ride and everything else about Lisboa.
Scotland. Wild, dark, depths of winter. Any one have any tips for that? Looking for somewhere cosy to escape away from people, see some nature and stars.
Only been there once and I find it the 2nd most beautiful country I have been to as a tourist. I enjoyed staying a few nights at Achmony near Drumnadrochit overlooking Loch Ness. Really quiet with even foxes I think they are foxes hanging outside the accomodation and in the morning nice sunrise over the Loch Ness…and surprisingly not too expensive.
Generally some great walks near there. Also if in Scotland during Hogmanay go to Stonehaven. Best place in Scotland. Big fireballs are thrown into the sea
You lot should seek therapy. Apparently Ifti is very well qualified, he once comforted a child who had stubbed their toe, and his rates are competitive.
I’ve done that already, definitely highly recommend to those who haven’t. Would do during winter though, off-peak is when the roads are much nicer to drive, and things are so much cheaper. Beautiful dramatic scenery too.
Also done that, but I found it quite difficult. Most nights when I was there it was cloudy so you couldn’t see a single thing. I did that in February though, not sure if it changes much.
This is the current plan, but I have 2 weeks, so I think that’s a lot of time for just that. I was originally considering attempting all the Hebrides, or maybe pairing Skye with Argyll and Bute, not sure how feasible that is though.
Thanks for the shouts on Pitlochry, I was thinking about doing the Cairngorms as an alternative too. I usually try to base myself in one location as long as I can while absorbing everything in the vicinity, before moving on.
Been through Pitlochry on a Megabus once, but I don’t think that counts.
