Trent ALEXANDER-ARNOLD: 2020/21

Amidst all the euphoria about that run, it was the international equivalent of City finding themselves in the FA Cup semi final having played Wycombe, Cheltenham and Burton Albion. They had a piss easy run and predictably crumbled against the first half decent side they played.

Granted… but still…

We won number 6 against spurs who are Europe’s equivalent of Cheltenham town…

It still counts

We had a team to beat in the semi’s though, right?

The talk is actually that as things stand he’s leaving Alexander-Arnold, Grealish and Sancho at home and taking Tripper, Dier and Lingard instead. Can talk about form as much as you like but that’s bullshit and a joke. Dier and Trippier have had terrible seasons and Lingard has had several terrible years followed by one very short (so far) run of form at West Ham.

And took care of Bayern along the way.

And although it’s funny to say it Spurs weren’t actually a shit side.

But… but… Trippier…

The whole world calling Southgate out on his bullshit is entertaining me not going to lie!

Form is not everything at international level, if you went by only form, you’d have a lot of changes in the 23 every few months. An international side is also a separate football side of it’s own, it has it’s strengths and weaknesses, style, partnerships are important, experience also. Club context is often different from the needs at international level (and of course, we can talk about Southgate’s philosophy and choices). But of course, there are some levels of quality/form you can’t ignore. I think the main one here is Trippier. Didn’t he miss about 10 games for Atletico due to his betting ban? For the RWB spot, he might like having James as one of the options with him being direct, pacy. Because almost all RW options for England tend to go more inside, unless you play Sterling there (which he usually doesn’t).

Is it weird to hope England leave him out and England get grouped through individual mistakes from Walker and Trippier. I’d laugh.

TAA has a better hairdo than Wanker and Trippier.

Can’t believe the level of ineptitude over England selection, the fact Trent and Jadon may not yet picked for the Euros is mind boggling;

Well, as things stand Thomas Müller, Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria are also not going to the Euros.
