Trent ALEXANDER-ARNOLD: 2020/21

Neco is better now than Trent was for first 18 months of senior football. Took consistent playing time and opportunities for Trent to get where he is. Neco may not have the same level of potential but he isn’t as bad as sometimes made out. Milner is fine for the odd game too but wouldn’t want him there for more than 3/4 games on a trot, he needs his time managing at his age. Fabinho, Ox (if still here), Henderson, Gomez and academy kids are all options in emergency situations.

Sorry, I haven’t seen that Neco. I saw one who wasn’t very good. I hope your one turns up at the beginning of next season.

Really don’t want to see Fab or Hendo there.

Wow who’s this Neco you’re talking about?

I’ve seen some good stuff from the Neco I know however at times he shows he’s not good enough. His decent stuff comes in fits and starts. Could become good but I think for that he might have to limit his going forward. 1st few times I saw him I thought he was poor then started noticing a bit of promise, nothing to get excited about.
He’s nowhere near what Trent was or is.

I have no problem with Neco or Kostas in a full strength side.

And we are also not going to sign any FBs soon.

Still not sure why it’s such a massive concern, 6 weeks is the 15th, he would potentially have been away until the 25th anyhow, his 6 weeks isn’t sitting on his arse, that includes his rehabilitation.

If it becomes 8-10 weeks then yes, but if he is say ready to start gaining match fitness on the 15th, he won’t be that far behind the rest.

Aren’t the team coming back on the 17th so I read?

With a proper preseason and the regular GK and CB in the lineup, Neco and Tsimikas will be serviceable options.

I find it interesting that he’s sponsored by Red Bull yet I very much doubt he drinks the stuff. I clicked on the “how I fuel” section of the page to see if they’d put in a “and of course a can of Redbull” line in somewhere, but it’s all actual information about nutrition, Mona Nemmer etc.

Whatever pays the bills I guess

For a time around the turn of the millenium I was sponsored by Vodka Red Bull. Don’t remember much about it tbh.

Oh I had the same sponsorship package at the same time! Did yours also include the bonus prize of spewing up on it and having that horrible fuzzy teeth thing going on (that Smirnoff Ice used to give you too)

Smirnoff ice is a drink for the ladies.

Hate any energy drinks.

Smells like shit (at least to me), tastes as well (tried it once, in a mix).

Agreed - but when you’re 15-16 and run outta your own booze and theres Smirnoff Ice available, you take it!

We did used to do turbo shandys - they were fun - smirnoff ice and half a pint mixed into a pint glass - easy to drink, maximum fuckedupness.

I think you’ve both forgotten Trents start. His first season he hardly played and was a bit of a defensive liability. His second season he showed some attacking promise in first half of the season but was still a weak point defensively and Gomez was preferred a little more, especially against good teams. Second half of that season he started improving defensively and was capable by the end. But his first season and a half he was awful with flashes of attacking promise.

So are you just talking defensive stuff not other technical stuff like ball control, passing and that?

Except for Trent, he was quite consistent if my memory serves me!

Oh, it’s you again with the same type of remark.

He did, and still does cop a lot of critisim particularly over the defensive side of his game.

The point I was making is that bar a very small number of players that actually make the first team at 18, they all show patchy form at first.
