He’s a different style of RB. I’m not sure that we will replicate what Trent does when we have Bradley and Frimpong there but we probably won’t need to.
I said it before - I don’t think there’s a better footballer at right back in the world but since he’s irreplaceable in that aspect, I hoped and still hope that Liverpool have got a significantly better right back in Frimpong, even if he can’t ping the ball from 60 yards out like him or bend in free kicks and corners.
The €10M fee is a masterstroke at the 11th hour, and it will be worth more to us than that, as in addition we don’t have to pay out bonuses to Trent for completing his contract.
It makes the most of a bad situation, where Real Madrid were getting him on a free and Trent was getting a large signing bonus. Both player and club are now paying a little something to us - Real Madrid in the form of a fee, Trent in the form of forfeiting bonuses that may have been due. Nowhere near his true value, of course, but still, an unexpected €10M is not to be sneezed at.
Meant as a collective/squad, not just RB
That’s interesting but I thought the last paragraph in your post was more telling - I swear that players like Lallana, Milner or Firmino got effusive praise and heartfelt best wishes in their respective articles from the official website.
The female Alexander-Arnold reminds me vaguely of someone famous, like an actress or something…
I don’t know, that feels like reaching to me…

Does it? You and I are probably on different poles of TAA debate but I’ve always had the impression that these farewell messages from the official website were pretty telling when it came to the player and general feelings about his departure. You’d feel a player who so proudly wore the “twenty years at this club” argument would get a warmer send-off.
Can we close this now that it is official?
Would the club really go to that extent? What would the point be?
I haven’t read those messages before, but I really don’t think the club would bother with encoding subtle messages. If anything, perhaps it might have been that the person tasked with writing it might just be really annoyed with him, at the most.
Move this to the ex player thread already.
If I have this right, the near £10m is “pure profit” in PSR terms, so equates to being able to spend £30m on a transfer within the reporting period - that’s the Frimpong transfer covered off then.
10m is a very nice outcome on that considering the quoted figure earlier.
Well played Hughes ![]()
I can’t stand Real either bunch of cheats.
You spelt @The-AllMightyReds wrong.

FWIW I reckon I would’ve been able to shaft Madrid for £20m, but that’s neither here nor there.
