Oh they’ve got it back… 2-2
Imagine thinking you are out of Europe only to find out you are not technically.
Rodgers and Europe
He said he didn’t even know what the Europa conference is. Better learn quickly.
He’ll need a decent map…they are placed into a knock-out round playoff, in order to get into the Round of 16.
Noticed if you finished top of the group the EL has an incentive in which you go into the Q finals.
Yes, similar structure for the Europa Conference League. Spurs will add two more games to their schedule if they qualify, simply to get to the Round of 16. That is a month of extra games even before the quarterfinals.
As a rule change though, I like it. Winning a group really matters.
I saw that as well and I’m sorry, it’s some dishonest bullshit right there. Brendan ‘I’m too fucking naff to know all this because it’s beneath me’. Load of crap. Is he really thinking he can say that as the manager of a professional football team when pretty much every random football fan of a top flight team in Europe will know of it notwithstanding the fact he is/was playing in a competition where the rules of finishing 3rd are clear and will have been from the beginning. He even started off that sentence with ‘’ I’ve got to be honest’'. It’s inconceivable that in such a tight group one would be unaware of what the cost of failure would be. What an idiot. Brendan being Brendan again.
Also saw a few of these nuggets reading the Beeb article:
“There is a lot of naivety in our team, with a lot of young players and it has been a big demand for them this season,” he added."
Just for reference, here is the ‘naive, young team’ he is referring to:
G | 1 | Kasper Schmeichel |
---|---|---|
D | 6 | Jonny Evans |
D | 5 | Ryan Bertrand |
D | 27 | Timothy Castagne |
D | 4 | Çağlar Söyüncü |
M | 8 | Youri Tielemans |
M | 25 | Wilfred Ndidi |
M | 10 | James Maddison |
M | 22 | Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall |
M | 7 | Harvey Barnes |
A | 9 | Jamie Vardy |
“We have played a number of systems but individually it comes down to having that mentality to track a runner or stop a cross. We were good offensively but it was nowhere near good enough.”
Oh dear, no names but a bit of throwing under the bus there. Hasn’t quite cottoned on for him that playing a number of systems leaves players confused and unsure of who is doing what hence tracking of runners, marking and stopping of crosses being a problem.
So glad we don’t have to listen to this bluff merchant talking about our club anymore

Nice quotes from Brendao last night…
The great Leicester and the great Brendan Rodgers, making fun of the Conference League, like it would really hurt them to win something like that, which not only did they never win, but never got even close (played QF of the CL of course, but that wasn’t realistic).
Sevilla v Dinamo Zagreb
Atalanta v Olympiacos
Leipzig v Sociedad
Barcelona v Napoli
Zenit v Betis
Dortmund v Rangers
Sheriff v Braga
Porto v Lazio
Napoli favourites to beat Barca?
Leipzig v Sociedad should be a good tie, as could Porto v Lazio.
Barca v Napoli also with some goals, will still rather watch that one than a few of the CL games.
Media will try to sell it as the glamour tie, but we all know it’s Barcelona
I can see Sheriff going far @Bekloppt
Sheriff > Barcelona
Considering these are the 3rd best CL and 2nd best El it’s got some tasty draws
Hate the concept of dropping down a League. When you come third - fuck off out of Europe. Ironically it could be a Barca’s best chance of getting back to CL
Dortmund vs Rangers tonight.
Fun Fact
Giovanni Reyna could play against the team managed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Reynas father Claudio and van Bronckhorst played together at Rangers. They became friends and Claudio named his son after him.
Weird seeing Barca in the Europe.
& as I’ve said that Napoli’s just taken the lead through Zielinski…Ter Stegen saved the initial by him but the rebound falls kindly in his path.
Dortmund behind to Rangers
