UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

Suella Braverman has no business being the Attorney General. None at all. Her conduct in the role is embarrassing the profession.

Watching the discourse in the EU and the UK about the deal and its prospects, and I have this rising sense that the EU might be facing another moment where the executive branch has disconnected from their own legislative sentiment. The member states and the EC have happily pushed the timeline for European Parliamentary approval, even stated that a deal could be put in place operationally before the EP approves it, all with seemingly no consultation with the EP.

Then, I look over at the Irish ratification process for CETA, and see a very similar dynamic. There are now real questions as to whether the Dail will approve CETA, due to the Investor Court mechanism in it - a mechanism that reflects the compromise and input of both parties, but is basically an EU idea.

You’re searching out my posts to respond to. What fun. I mean exactly what I said. Those EEA countries who are not in the EU are the sensible ones.

A serious question , honestly. Can you or someone else explain to me the advantages of leaving the EU. Obviously it has been done now but I would really like to know why.

I am not searching out your posts. Just catching up with the thread. What makes you think you are important enough to get individual treatment. ?
The fact is my opinions are so far apart from yours that they are bound to beg a response. Just block me if you wish. Makes no odds to me.

This is the fourth post in a row that you have responded to one of my posts, starting with a post I made nearly two weeks ago.

The fact is that whatever information I provide you ignore and then respond with false claims. You do not appear to have any interest in engaging with me in good faith nor in actually being receptive to the information I provide to you. I agree that the best way forward is to ignore each other so that you can continue in the comfort of your own echo chamber.

Post more “facts” that are not true, however, and I will almost certainly reply so as to set the record straight.

Great article. Saddens me that it takes a US paper to write it though.

If proven, I expect prosecutions and long jail terms.

Granted I also expect free beer and unlimited sex…
