UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

Has anyone seen the research behind this more transmissible strain of covid?

On first impressions looks political than biology based.

There seems to be some dubious science. An increased prevalence of one mutation during second peak. Which is not unexpected given Christmas shoppers (packed London streets).

I have real doubts it has an increased transmission. More likely changes of weather, changes in behaviour leading to increased transmission.

No, haven’t seen anything but i am seeing more of the commentators i follow now say that the concerns over the new strain as being genuine because of the reaction of the scientists and health officials talking about it. There is no doubt the politics side has made things worse (I think Whitty during tonight’s conference has confirmed that the new strain was known weeks ago)

When I heard Boris say this I actually asked the very same question. I personally have no idea but if Boris told me the sky was blue I’d honestly have to check.

If this weren’t so dead serious I’d be tempted to crack a joke about this government and a strain made in Britain.

Jealousy because our British strain is the best

2020 is an insane year.

Funnily enough I first read that as ā€œstain made in Britainā€, which I think might be closer to the truth.

Seriously though…this isn’t funny, hope that didn’t come across the wrong way.

We know that ya fool :+1: hence my insane comment.

Such a crazy situation that we have to laugh or we would go crazy.

Be safe and be well.

Don’t worry, it’s a comment made by many of the British social commentators on social media this evening

I’d like to dedicate this post to former TIA resident @epsom_red.

I wonder what they actually talk about given this has been the true position since Land Before Time.

EU countries are already putting up the blockades to stop our new UK covid mutation from coming to the continent.

I know it’s exactly what the ā€˜something’ is, but it’s unprintable and I’d get banned.

Dunno. I haven’t got beyond getting the current fuckwit out of No. 10 along with his cronies to be honest.

He certainly looks more the part but policies etc. Are pretty much untested.

Oh he’s going at the next election, assuming we get there. Unlike you I am completely switched off to their policies and promises, because they never happen. Like @WooltonRed I cant print what I really think, but lets just say its all a sideshow from Marseilles.
