UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

To be fair, the reason why snow causes so much panic here is because it’s quite rare and we don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it. In places with regular heavy snow they have to invest more in their infrastructure, which is doesn’t make sense for us to do.

I bloody love snow, and I think that 2020 owes us a proper snowfall we can take the kids out to play in.

Agreed. My skiing holiday is the only break abroad I really enjoy. Downside is I’ve only been once in the last 10 years and it won’t happen this winter either. So a good snow dump this winter will be great imo.

Plus I hate road salt with a passion. Causes more trouble than it solves a lot of the time.

It’s always amazed me that UK Chippy’s have never caught on with this little badboy

No self respecting take away in Aus would dream of serving chips without it

Chip shops in hull have this weird red stuff they put on chips. Think they call it chip spice. It’s incredible. But I’ve never seen it anywhere else.

The UK seems preoccupied with curry sauce and mayonnaise for some completely bizarre reason.

I love mayo, even the vegan stuff is palatable but not so much on my chips.

Butter, Mayo and chip butty nothing healthier than that in the world. :scream:

I quite like a curry dip but chips should be unadultered after salt has been sprinkled on and then dipped in the sauce you choose.

I love mayo as well and in many sandwiches use it in place of butter/margarine.

I see your chip butty, and raise you a bacon sarnie.

White bread, butter and bacon - pure heaven

Spain has reached a deal with the UK to maintain free movement to and from Gibraltar once the UK formally leaves the EU on Friday.

To avoid a hard border, they have agreed that Gibraltar will join the EU’s Schengen zone and follow other EU rules, while remaining part of the UK.

Nah, too much protien to be as healthy and not enough starch to make you fart.
Very nice taste though more for brown sauce than mayo though. :innocent:

This is not helping. Having had to pretty much go vegan (almost) thanks to health issues its bad enough with the missus making bacon and brie sandwiches over Christmas but coming on here to find more of it is not helping.

We only do it because we care

Sorry to hear about your health issues and hope you’re findign the right balance to get on top of it/them

Thanks, its going quite well to be honest but is not without challenges. Basically I have a form of kidney disease. I’ve been stable for 6 years which is a good thing but since going veganish my numbers have been improving.

Cutting out meat has been really easy. Getting a balanced diet has not. My biggest challenge now is losing weight. I’m far too heavy at the moment.

The real chicken salt is the one that is fluorescent yellow. I had my folks bring me over a bag that they managed to get from the local corner shop, but ran out years ago. Thought there was no chance but there is a committed guy who actually sells bags of it here in the UK that I buy off.

Aussie chips and potato scallops/cakes (depending on which states you are from) with chicken salt is unbeatable. Proper Aussie cuisine. Well, that and a burger with the lot.

Road salt ? Do we get that from the EU ?

Possibly?

No it’s just the way we have to pour the stuff everywhere to avoid insurance claims, when the reality is people often doing stupid stuff.

This winter we’ll be mostly getting our salt from the tears shed in Manchester.

They are up and about, that is for sure, particularly the red ones…
