Just a word of note as Iāve been scouting round for a few things. A lot of websites Iāve seen are now quoting delays due to Brexit. In addition I also get my fruit and veg from a local wholesale supplier who started doing home deliveries during the pandemic. They are still trying to figure out the impact of Brexit on their prices and what will be available.
Interesting that youāre open to it being either. Thereās hope for you yet
I think it could easily be both of them but I reckon this could be a good test as to where someoneās instinctive position liesā¦
Full disclosure - I was looking for a shoot yourself in the foot gif as my first reaction was it was the seller, but then I found this and by that stage thought it could apply either way.
They will probably be able to work out what kind of surcharge they need to apply to UK customers to be revenue-neutral, but not right away. Presumably, some will realize they need to do so, some will realize that it is no longer viable to ship to the UK because they donāt do enough volume to cover the fixed costs.
Yes, my thoughts exactly. This smacked to me of simply needing the time and space to work out what cost would need to be passed on to UK consumers in order to continue supplying those in the UK and whether it was likely to remain viable. It will be a very product-specific computation.
I guess it will also depend on how much they depend on the UK market and whether itās actually worth the hassle. Good to see that you recognise that there will be cost increases as a result of this. Thereās hope for you yet
I wonder how much Dutch Bike Bits does in the UK market?
I also suppose this was inevitable with a deal concluded so late in the day.
This āVAT Storyā isnāt news tbf, itās been reported already in October that smaller firms all over the world are now forced to stop their deliveries to the UK. That isnāt a EU only thing.
