UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

That’s right. They’ll want them next and they cant have them

Morgan is such a cunt. Total bully. I don’t watch TV during the day but when I have seen clips he doesn’t let anyone speak.
He was all matey with Trump and backed him all the way then when Trump stopped all communications to concentrate on the election Morgan turned against him.
The man is an utter cunt.

£37bn for whom might be a better question. And I think we all know the answer.

yep.

I only picked up on the story via social media this morning.

Apparently he has stormed off the set of GMTV today as the weatherman called him out as being a bully.

Exactly but lets all nod our heads in agreement because the Daily Mail tells us that they’re doing a good job and we dont want those people on benefits buying an extra bottle of vodka do we?

Yes that’s what I’m referring to. Was it today? Gees news travels fast.

What an utter fuckwit he is. I hope that mental health campaign he fronts dumps him.

It includes testing and we’re having to do quite a lot of that at the moment.

That’s not to say also that there hasn’t been a shit load of waste as well.

Yes, couldn’t agree more.

We’ll chop the social care budget because its wasteful. People buying food… why do they need that?

Track and trace. Yes, sterling job. You need a new wardrobe Dido? No problem, remember to put you expenses in.

Track and trace has been an abject, unmitigated failure. The app doesn’t work on most people’s phones and there are very few places you can sign in.

yes. I wonder what they are spending the extra £15bn on?

I could well agree that even post vaccination there’s a need to maintain testing and if we had a working tracing system, that too. But £15bn?

Hopefully someone has tagged that creep Jacob Rees-Mogg in the tweet/clip.

That creepy data profiling company? There is a lot more testing needed into the future though so a fair chunk will be going towards that. We test more than any other comparable country - and I don’t think it’s being suggested that we’re overdoing it.

thanks for bringing my rants back to earth.

I do think it needs to be questioned and understood. My concern is of course influenced by what we’ve already seen with regard to government contracts.

But it boils my blood that they choose to cut from the bottom yet again.

I have a copy of TIA, just need to figure out where to upload.

I am indifferent to the Royals. Don’t really care about them one way or another. (Not anti or Pro). My wife had to organise events for princess Anne. She was nice enough.

In my mind I think of them as celebrities. They generally use their status for good. But can’t be arsed with drama. My view of the interview is not a million miles from this

Not really news worthy. Playing the victim card falls flat.

The first question people need to ask is why do the interview ? The most obvious answers are financial gain and publicity. No different to a b list celebrity whore.

Given everything occurring in the world today it’s hard to have any sympathy for any of them.

Without knowing the motivation or thoughts of the person who mused about the child’s skin tone, I agree with Meghan’s father who I heard say this morning that he didn’t believe it was necessarily a racist comment. When you have a baby or grandchild on the way, it is quite natural to wonder what colour eyes, hair, skin tone it might have and particularly if the parents are from different racial backgrounds.

It really depends on the context and motivation but per se, that is not a racist comment.

That was my main issue with it. Mostly about timing, it was incredibly tone deaf.

100%. It depends on the motivation for asking the question, which can’t possibly be known. It actually reveals the prejudices of those claiming it demonstrates racist intent, when they cannot know the motivation. It’s a common question when mixed race couples are expecting a child, just like wondering what shape eyes my kids might have. The vast majority of the time it’s actually about taking a positive interest in the child’s ethnic heritage.

Aren’t we in danger of jumping the gun in questioning the motivation and context of an alleged remark before establishing whether or not the remark was actually made?

I thought Oprah was trying to make more out of it than what there was, I would have thought she was less “gutter press” than that.
There was obviously issues between Meghan and the royals. That doesn’t mean she was right or wrong in things she said just that they see things differently than she does. She came across a bit fake, or at least a bit precious, in my opinion though.
Harry supported his wife, as he should do, but does that mean he fully supports everything she said or hinted at? publicly at this time in their lives he has to support her.
