The allegations of racism are out of order though.

Yes, I did wonder when we might see the Harry dressed as a Nazi picture. Please don’t anybody post the naked ones!!!

You do see a pattern though. The british press rarely reports on Prince Andrew whereas they seem to dedicate an article every other day denigrating meghan.

That’s not really a matter of disproportionate focus though. One has been taken out of the limelight deliberately, the other is deliberately courting it.

It’s really borderline though dont you think?

To my knowledge I dont think people that have ginger hair have been segregated, sold as slaves and generally trodden on for simply being alive.

But plenty of people speculated about the colour of Harry’s hair and its similarity to that of James Hewitt though. Heck, it’s still going on 35+ years later.

The entire interview was now shown twice on our German TV and was probably followed by millions of people all over the world. Accusations of racism, bullying and, I’ll call it a failure to provide help, are topics in all media and on all channels. That the usual voices deny any racism and also deny the bigotry of the British media is not surprising, but now completely untrustworthy.

Expressing suicidal thoughts publicly, asking for help takes a lot of courage and it is totally inappropriate to make fun of in public. There are too many people out there who struggle with mental health problems and after hearing and reading the (mostly British tbf) comments that they don’t believe Meghan and Harry etc, they may be no longer open up themself, because they think it’s embarrassing and you better not talk about it in puplic or whatever. That´s a no go.

And who thinks that rich and famous people have no mental problems (or are allowed to have) should maybe google who has killed themselves over the years. Unfortunately there are a few.

Of all the things she has said, Meghan’s reaction to being deposited in that dysfunctional cradle of privilege, racism, paedophilia and elitism being one of suicidal despair is the one I find most plausible.

That’s not racist though, is it?

During the interview she said she hadn’t left the house in months and wanted to go out to see friends but was told that she couldn’t as she was all over the media. So unless you are talking of Andrew courting it then I think your comment may be incorrect.

You see with reality TV shows these days the focus is about polarising opinions - on characters, on relationships etc. I very much think the papers saw an opportunity to play the William+Kate relationship off against the Harry+Meghan one. There was only ever going to be one winner in that battle so the end result is to be expected.

I think Piers made some good points in his rant. You accuse someone of racism but don’t name that person. The entire household gets painted with that brush. That’s not very courageous in my opinion. It’s so easy to hurl these accusations these days, and so long as they are of the proper type of accusation, anyone who questions them is insensitive, if not Neanderthal (apologies if I’ve offended any Neanderthals).

My advice to my son (who is not an actor). Don’t marry an actor. Non-actors should never marry actors. Hardly ever ends well.

The interview she gave to the most famous talkshow host in the world that’s been broadcast to millions around the world? That interview?

One thing Harry and Meghan wanting to distance themselves from royal life made me think about is what would happen if William died before Charles? What’s the line of succession? Would it then be Harry, but if he didn’t want it, it would then be Andrew wouldn’t it? :open_mouth:

We are not commenting on the situation this week. Yourself and Noo Noo were commenting on how the British press treat Andrew and Meghan differently, and you suggested Meghan courts the attention when that couldn’t be further from the fact. This interview will bring unwanted attention but at least they got to choose this unwanted attention rather than the press constantly writing trash about her even though she has done nothing to deserve it.

Straight to Williams first born. As soon as the heir has a child, the rest don’t get a look in. It only passes to a brother if the next in line has no children.

For Andrew to become King, Charles, William, Harry and all their kids would have to be bumped off. Sorry. Tragically die.

Three step program for the royals to regain popularity:
1, Sell all your property, give the proceeds to the NHS.
2, Resign.
3, Go and live on a council estate in Peckham.

really depends on the context and the historical significance of it though. Let’s say it’s a european and an indian mixed child , the question might not evoke the feeling of outrage as when a skin tone is mentioned when it’s a european and black…

what’s racist to one person or a group of people based either on age, nationality etc might be common speech to others… But you’ve got to be utterly tone-deaf to question the skin colour of a child of someone who obviously is part-black and refers to herself as black considering the historical nature that those comments can evoke
