Simon Case being pilloried for his evidence before MPs today. He basically said nothing of substance. Really difficult asking him questions about stuff that was before his time and about investigations that are still ongoing, as if MPs were expecting him to predetermine their outcome…really weird timing. Why not wait until the various enquiries have been complete? Felt a bit sorry for him. He was constantly asked whether he knew how the refurbishment of the flat above No.11 was financed - and yet this is one of the things there’s an enquiry about.
What I don’t understand is how such an enquiry would take so long (he said within a couple of weeks it should be concluded). Surely it must be easy to establish where the money came from and, if it came from Johnson personally, whether that money was first given to him by a 3rd party and, if so, who? I’d expect to be able to establish that to a fair degree of certainty within a day or two.

This ‘let the bodies pile high’ thing could fuck him. Labour need to tie this into his general attitude of laissez faire recklessness - swerving Cobra meetings, the repeated backtracks and u turns, eat out to help out etc.
