UK Politics Thread (Part 1)

Kind of difficult to judge someone by his actions, not his words, when you only know him from an online forum. In a way the words are the actions here.

If you want to talk about the footy, then go into the footy sections and talk about the footy. Iā€™d just avoid the politics. Your option is really out of whack with the rest of the forum, and you have to expect a bit of a pile on when you post deliberately inflammatory stuff like today.

I donā€™t mind the pile on and today I think Iā€™ve been quite remorseful.

Thatā€™s the problem I think. Too narrow a view. Difficult, and Iā€™m sure weā€™re all guilty of it at times. Look at any match day thread for example.

Put simply, figures estimate that there are 4.2 million UK children living in poverty. The parents of all of those children cannot all be crack heads or lazy, or whatever.

Even here ate home I see the full spectrum. People that do F all, spend all day in the pub. A few of them probably even sell exotic substances, which is a growing problem in the area. But then on the other side you see far more families, single parents for numerous reasons, or whatever that simply struggle, and even really struggle thanks to the governments reorganisation of Universal Credit (for example). Thereā€™s little work in the area, the jobs there are pay poorly or donā€™t offer the flexibility that may be needed as a parent. The jobs that pay more you may have to travel a long way. I remember discussing this with some people I knew. The Job Centre offered then a job in Chester. Thatā€™s 2 hours travel each way for a wage that probably would only cover the petrol.

At this point klopptimist is backtracking to some extent and probably realises heā€™s fairly on his own with his earlier viewpoint. Weā€™re not all going to agree with each other so probably best to move on rather than continually berate him. He may still feel heā€™s right but Iā€™m sure heā€™ll think twice on how he words contentious posts in future. We donā€™t know hisexperience in life so maybe we should show him a little more of what we ask him to show those we are discussing,.

What he said

We are part of a society which is ruling the way we live. How can you not hold it responsible for the way people are living, or more accurately, surviving in it?

Having lived certain experiences doesnā€™t magically grant you understanding of other, as tough as they may have been.

Youā€™re visibly not capable of really putting yourself in shoes other than yours. Youā€™ll have to take my word for it, because for some reason you seem incapable of doing it.

You want to discuss, but at this point thereā€™s not much left to discuss.

Maybe reread Pratchett, he is indeed a fantastic author you seem to have read and understood pretty selectively.

What part of my post to you disagree with and why please?

At this point youā€™re either trolling or failing at the basic act of reading my post.

I think we really do need to move on from this subject, as serious as it isā€¦ Lets leave it for now pleaseā€¦!
It is a matchdayā€¦ lets embrace the mood that this should bring with itā€¦

No Iā€™m not trolling. Havenā€™t been for many years. What exact acts of society and government remove a parentā€™s duty of care for their children?

Ok. There is a footy match on in a bit and this is primarily a footy forum.

Iā€™ll reopen this tomorrow, and in the meantime letā€™s all cool down.
