I completely agree, alot of large retail outlets have flat roof’s that are ideal for this. I am doing a Dotcom extension for a large Supermarket chain and they currently have 2,200 solar panels on their roof.
I was speaking to an Engineer working on the SP’s and he said the initial outlay is what is preventing it being more common.
I do not have any figures to support my suggestion but surely the Utility companies could rent the roof space instead?

Wishy washy fishy person leads country!

In the construction industry, we have seen a large influx of Romanian workers, so much so that in London jobs are publicly advertised for Romanian speaking foreman’s/gang leaders.
It would be interesting to see the breakdown of workers nationality at the massive Battersby power station development.
My only concern with this is that Romania has consistently been around the bottom of the table for deaths/injuries in construction and as a Site Manager I definitely find managing them more challenging. :weary::rofl:

I have no problem with adding solar to rooftops, however I see no need to prevent it from being placed on rural land especially in this early phase of adoption where just getting it up and running is probably of more importance. Firstly, I think a farmer should have the choice of what he does with their land, secondly there have been a number of articles recently demonstrating how farmers are able to combine solar power structures on their land and continue farming on the same plot without difficulty.

It will be interesting to see whether Rishi takes steps to make solar on roofs more common, or whether like in the article, his support of such a measure is simply to delay the roll out of green options leaving us dependent on fossil fuels

We were gonna move to Islington when we first came to the UK…

Too fucking expensive!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to come across as opposed to placing Solar panels on rural land. I see no problem with that as long as there is no affect on the local eco system.
The thing is Solar Panels are more effective in high UV, low heat as the heat affects the performance. My understanding (no facts) is that the UK has quite a good environment for Solar Panels particularly April to late June.

I hope those in the UK realise what they are in for. I mean Truss was pure madness this is absolute lunacy. These fuckwits will look for, find and even dig holes to fill. The markets won’t react as it’s not them that has to pay for it so don’t sit about waiting for father market to do it for you.
@Noo_Noo was right that Hunt guy is a destroyer and he doesn’t care who he takes with him and where he is it’s the whole of the UK.

Btw I warned you Truss was by far the better option, at least she had mad arguements for what she was doing!

Markets like balance. Hunt will balance the books. How he does it is a different matter but he likely won’t send shock waves through the market by borrowing a heap and then throwing it over the fence as Truss / Kwarteng did.

And it is the how that worries me. Services are on their knees, and in some cases over privatised to the point where they have stagnated (politely put).

Shock for me is how much support Braverman has. Let’s ignore the fact that 12 years of failure, ignoring open doors from France etc to address the problem, painfully slow application processing etc etc.

But shooting them out of the water is fine.

‘put great white sharks in the channel’
That’s tory minister IQ right there. Sounds like the party may have more depth of ‘talent’ than it’s been credited with.
