One thing missed from that article is the scrapping of most energy efficiency schemes in 2012. Since then itâs estimated that 2 million efficiency upgrades per year have been missed. That means that the country needs more energy (typically as gas) than it otherwise would have done and the increase in bills is hitting hardest for those, usually on lower incomes, that live in unrenovated accommodation.

Until people get angry when theyâre gone.
Mate at work today whoâs wife is a nurse said they are leaving in droves. Easier to work in Aldi. Same money, far less stress, less hours, generally less hassle.
Another mate has decided to go back on the ambulances. He had swapped to a mobile clinician of sorts. While there wasnât any shift working the stress was nuts. Easier to go back to sitting outside a hospital for hours at a stretch where the only responsibility is keeping people alive. Far different to making clinical decisions. No license at risk.

I call bullshit on this. impossible task to switch an entire country of 60mil over to clean power in 8 years. the tech doesnât even exist for that volume of power required yet.
According to what Iâve read recently, this year renewables have provided about 40% of electricity generation by the major power companies, same as gas, with nuclear at 16.8% and coal at 2.5%.

Psst. I think Iâm right in saying you need fission reactors to create some of the fuel needed for fusion.

Itâs already at 40% and thatâs with a government that has thrown every spanner available in the works. Itâs perfectly achievable if you want to go for it.
