I don’t know, I’m just going on the figures I have previously posted from the Kings Fund. Maybe they weren’t collecting the data pre-1980?
There is no political massaging of the data from me. Look at the figures. It’s stark. The research shows public satisfaction in the NHS falling from 2010 to where it was in March 2022. Since then it has fallen lower still and it’s now at its lowest point.
The Conservatives inherited a world class health service that was the envy of most counties and hugely appreciate by the public, and they have destroyed it. That’s inarguable.
My conjecture is that it has been destroyed on purpose. This isn’t carelessness or neglect. They know exactly what they are doing.
Your mistaken opinion that they are all the same as each other, and there is no point engaging in politics, is a big reason why these vultures win election after election despite pissing in the faces of the majority of voters.
I’m guessing @Mascot is a similar age to me so the pre-thatcher years are not something that comes to mind easily as we didn’t really live it and Thatcher was in power for so long. While there were likely some positive tailwinds to help the Labour governments after 1995, I think I am right in saying that the Blair years saw the highest growth in spending on the NHS - with the last decade under Co-alition/ Conservative governments, the lowest - which must have had some impact on the decline in services we have seen.
I would add that a significant factor of the late 70’s Labour government’s problems were down to the previous Tory government blowing the economy up (the so called Barber Boom!), so that period shouldn’t be seen as ‘all Labour’s fault’.
I don’t understand how the myth that The Conservatives look after the economy and Labour destroy it has been able to perpetuate. It’s literally the opposite.
Maybe newspaper owners have a better time under the Tories?
HOW MANY TIMES??? You portray me as a Tory defending Boris loving Conservative. I’m not. I’m a right wing capitalist which does not automatically make me blue any more than you being a socialist makes you love Chairman Mao. They’re not my lads and as mentioned multiple times, I’d like to see Boris swing. Guessing you wouldn’t as it’s probably society’s fault he’s such a cunt?
Did you read the article? I’m not sure it says what you think it says.
Liam Byrne’s was itself a joke based on a previous Tory Chancellor to his Labour successor in which he wrote ‘sorry about the mess old cock’.
Liam Byrne shouldn’t have left that note, as he should have known he couldn’t exchange a bit of dry humour with the incoming Tory administration. He should have known that it would be used politically and wouldn’t be taken in good faith.
The countries finances were a mess in 2010. But we know why that is, don’t we? The offensive notion that was flustered on the public was that the country was a mess because Labour had spent too much on hospitals abd libraries, and not because of a global financial collapse that Gordon Brown had felt compelled to tackle through pumping liquidity into the failing banks.
Just wanted to point out that this is not restricted to the UK. There’s also often a perception that the economy does better under Republicans/right-wing governments, when historically that’s the complete opposite. Same goes for government finances too.
Sorry mate, that’s bullshit. Give me one example of me defending this pile of shite when what they’ve done has been shite. I’ll vehemently disagree with the mantra that they’re selling off the NHS (world’s slowest and most inept conduct) and generally rebuke the usual left accusations hurled at them but that’s just because it tends to be bollocks.
What’s not at question is that the government under Boris was a sham, a parody of government, a useless collection of self serving sociopaths who’s legacy will be with us for decades. Did you read that sentence? Just checking as it seems you have an odd opinion on my stance on the matter. If I supported Labour, I’d be praying for an election now as in 2 years, watch that lead disappear. And I know you won’t bet on it so no point asking. What’s the old saying about putting your money where your mouth is?
Not lead by Boris though. Sorry, did I say lead? Meant corrupted.
You going to agree that Kir is pointless any time soon? Strikes, doom, inflation, doom, war, doom, shattering prices, doom, fuck all from the government and the Labour party’s stance is, erm, we’ll sit here quietly.

Do you really believe that? That’s hopelessly naive.
The Tories will be less self serving under the moral lead of Rishi Sunak - a billionaire, who has lied about his tax affairs and who’s wife retains business interests in a nation we’re at proxy war with? Fucks sake, mate.
Labour are sitting on 20-30 point lead (poll dependent). Keir doesn’t have to do a thing. When your enemy is making mistake after mistake after mistake, don’t interrupt them.
Until Sunak calls an election, Labour are absolutely right to keep their policy detail close to their chest, criticise and highlight government failures, speak only in the broadest terms about Labpurs plans, and demand a General Election.
Any policy Starmer announces the Tories will steal. That’s what they have done in the past, and unless is something that the Tories wouldn’t touch, like clamping down Non-Dom tax avoidance, they are right to wait.
I’d point to the endless benefit of the doubt you give this government, across a range of issues, where it is transparently obvious they are making an absolutely shitshow of it. And then throw in statements like you’ll be on Labour’s back from day one of their administration.
