UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

So he felt it was ok that he could say goodbye to a colleague who was leaving the job but that others could not say goodbye to their loved ones who were dying .
That in itself should end his career in politics .

Excellent, love this.

200k of taxpayers money for a defence and what he comes up with is ā€˜my mates said it was OKā€™.

Fuck. Me.

ā€œYes thatā€™s me pictured drinking at numerous parties, but I told my advisor to tell me it wasnā€™t a party, and he said ā€˜erm ok it wasnā€™t a party Borisā€™. So how could I have known it was a party?ā€

Could have saved the country a fortune by simply inserting this one simple line into the Member of Parliament application form.
Are you a lying cunt YES/NO

Obviously those who tick no are lying cunts

I still doubt whether the Tory majority on the committee are going to give him the ultimate sanction. Heā€™s still one of them , and a former PM , and just about the last thing they need now is another by-election to remind them , and us , just how totally useless they have been as the party of government.

Conversely, Rishi organising it so heā€™s metaphorically hung drawn and quartered and making a colossal fuss about the importance of honesty, integrity etc might actually do far more good in the long term than the inevitable lost seat. ā€œHe lied, we kicked him out. Thatā€™s the kind of government we are nowā€ etc.

I note Rishiā€™s tax details were released (buried) on the same day. Canā€™t remember who it was that sent the memo about releasing any bad news on the day of 9/11. Doesnā€™t matter if it was Labour, Conservatives would have done the same.

Was one of Blairā€™s advisors

Definitely Labour. I think it was a political advisor to one of the ministers.

As far as the tax return (and I believe itā€™s just a summary of the totals) Iā€™m rather uneasy about what should be a private document being released to the public like that. Sunak is a rich man, thereā€™s no argument about that, and from what they say it sounds like he probably pays the tax he is due based upon those figures.

However, that isnā€™t the real story. What we do need to know is whether there are any conflicts of interests. For that it would require a far more detailed audit. That should really apply to any MP, certainly any minister. Itā€™s doesnā€™t have to be made public but the conflicts certainly do.

Heā€™s going for squeaky clean I suspect. This is a well polished and rehearsed strategy and as Iā€™ve said, I think it will work.

Granted some wonā€™t vote for him as he should have been deported after BREXIT along with all the other people who arenā€™t white but then people still buy red top newspapers.

Letā€™s not forget that the present PM didnā€™t pay any taxes in the UK, despite living in Southampton, until 2015, when he became an MP.

I really wish Fishy Rishi would have stuck as a moniker.

It didnā€™t?

Dunno ā€¦ I never hear it used.

Hopefully youā€™re about as right on this as you are on everything else.

Opinion polling (for what itā€™s worth) is suggesting that as well, no moves since the supposed bump they would get after the Brexit dealā€¦

You mean like Trump winning and BREXIT? Yeah, I have a track record of getting the big calls absolutely right.
