UK Politics Thread (Part 2)

So he felt it was ok that he could say goodbye to a colleague who was leaving the job but that others could not say goodbye to their loved ones who were dying .
That in itself should end his career in politics .

Excellent, love this.

200k of taxpayers money for a defence and what he comes up with is ā€˜my mates said it was OK’.

Fuck. Me.

ā€œYes that’s me pictured drinking at numerous parties, but I told my advisor to tell me it wasn’t a party, and he said ā€˜erm ok it wasn’t a party Boris’. So how could I have known it was a party?ā€

Could have saved the country a fortune by simply inserting this one simple line into the Member of Parliament application form.
Are you a lying cunt YES/NO

Obviously those who tick no are lying cunts

I still doubt whether the Tory majority on the committee are going to give him the ultimate sanction. He’s still one of them , and a former PM , and just about the last thing they need now is another by-election to remind them , and us , just how totally useless they have been as the party of government.

Conversely, Rishi organising it so he’s metaphorically hung drawn and quartered and making a colossal fuss about the importance of honesty, integrity etc might actually do far more good in the long term than the inevitable lost seat. ā€œHe lied, we kicked him out. That’s the kind of government we are nowā€ etc.

I note Rishi’s tax details were released (buried) on the same day. Can’t remember who it was that sent the memo about releasing any bad news on the day of 9/11. Doesn’t matter if it was Labour, Conservatives would have done the same.

Was one of Blair’s advisors

Definitely Labour. I think it was a political advisor to one of the ministers.

As far as the tax return (and I believe it’s just a summary of the totals) I’m rather uneasy about what should be a private document being released to the public like that. Sunak is a rich man, there’s no argument about that, and from what they say it sounds like he probably pays the tax he is due based upon those figures.

However, that isn’t the real story. What we do need to know is whether there are any conflicts of interests. For that it would require a far more detailed audit. That should really apply to any MP, certainly any minister. It’s doesn’t have to be made public but the conflicts certainly do.

He’s going for squeaky clean I suspect. This is a well polished and rehearsed strategy and as I’ve said, I think it will work.

Granted some won’t vote for him as he should have been deported after BREXIT along with all the other people who aren’t white but then people still buy red top newspapers.

Let’s not forget that the present PM didn’t pay any taxes in the UK, despite living in Southampton, until 2015, when he became an MP.

I really wish Fishy Rishi would have stuck as a moniker.

It didn’t?

Dunno … I never hear it used.

Hopefully you’re about as right on this as you are on everything else.

Opinion polling (for what it’s worth) is suggesting that as well, no moves since the supposed bump they would get after the Brexit deal…

You mean like Trump winning and BREXIT? Yeah, I have a track record of getting the big calls absolutely right.
