UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

If you want an example of the different standard applied to Labour and the Tories, this is it.

Labourā€™s general proposition in those leaflets was 100% true. Presenting them as a quote from Sunak is mischievous, but hardly outside the norms of politics - remember the Blair devil eyes posters.

Letā€™s also remember that this week Suella Braverman made an outrageous claim that most grooming are Pakistani in origin, a claim that is both untrue and deeply irresponsible.

And will end really badly. Obama said a great thing. They go low, we go high. Shots fired here, hopefully Labour will sink without trace.

It was Michelle who said it.

Behind every great man thereā€™s a fucking astounded woman.

You hope Labour sink without trace because they misjudged a poster?

Have the Tories not misjudged 13 years of Government?

You spelt ā€œfucked upā€ wrong.

It isnā€™t long since Rishi Sunak sat giggling and guffawing next to Boris Johnson as he claimed Keir Starmer prevented Jimmy Savile from being prosecuted.

Unlike that, the comment in the leaflets that the prosecution of sex offenders has collapsed under the Tories is 100% true.

Was just amazed to see a speech by Liz Truss being carried live on Sky. It was at the Heritage Foundation in the US (or at least they were sponsoring it) and I heard her talking about how western democracies were ā€˜self-flagellatingā€™ because of the left somehow laying a guilt trip on them with identity politics and critical race theory. Astonishing stuff from someone who has not an ounce of credibility , and now has to go pandering to the right wing in the US to stay relevant.

Edit: Just did a little research and apparently this speech was being trailed as an argument that Truss will argue that ā€œstagnation, redistributionism and woke cultureā€ have been ā€œtaking hold in businesses and the economy in the UK and the USā€. This, she will say, has meant ā€œmore , more subsidies, more regulationā€.

Thank fuck I turned it off.

I hope to lead the revolution against wank governments.

Zero Lefty Liberal bias here from the BBC, oh no:

Iā€™m actually with the government here.

Thereā€™s a huge difference between discipline and child abuse.

But the BBC story is taken straight from a Childline advert.

I donā€™t understand the lefty liberal bias bit?

Lefty liberal Childline, supporting our children for free.

You donā€™t think that photograph was specifically chosen to criticise the government? One of a very upset child? Exactly the picture youā€™d get on a story about abused children? Itā€™s not a picture of a child being smacked for reaching for the fire or a kettle now is it.

Thatā€™s your argument proving the BBC is wokey leftist?

Really?

No, itā€™s a stock photo. They will have loads of these that they will use to illustrate a story. I mean they could send out the production team to belt some kids for some fresh pictures but itā€™s not exactly a good use of the production staffā€™s time.

For balance - hereā€™s a Daily Telegraph stock image: Wales joins Scotland in banning smacking of children

Given your track record with the BBC Iā€™m amazed the story is actually on the BBC website.

Typical woke lefty Daily Telegraph.
