UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

Complete bullshit

I’m not a right wing tory, never voted for them and never will.
Just an observation.

It’s quite funny how anyone who dares to question anything about Starmer or the Labour Party, is labelled a ‘right wing Tory’. I usually stay out this thread because things can turn nasty quite quickly. I just thought I’d have quick look, to see what nonsense was being spouted today and I wasn’t disappointed.

Most of the attacks on him that I have seen come from the left as those above re Palestine.
He’s such a centrist that attacks from the right are more difficult.

Yep, just the typical nonsense we get every couple of weeks. Starmer supposedly finished when he’s on track for a 190 seat majority.

It would give me much needed amusement to be called a right wing Tory

They’ll be paying a site maintenance fee for that 2 years and quite possibly some considerable overheads to keep key staff etc.

What a charade and a scam

I’m not sure where to put this but the new coin designs for King Charles have been unveiled and I think they are beautiful:

I’ve never liked the current design and had hoped that they would revert to something more distinct. Given the current government’s trend for crassness I hadn’t high hopes but these natural history designs are perfect.

Maybe even a little reminder of the old Irish decimal coins?

I’m not disagreeing with you. I’m pointing out the practical reality of the situation that the Tory Party, Starmer’s Labour Centrists and the media have created.

Within British public life now you cannot criticise Israel. To do so is to Anti-Semitic. That’s the new Orwellian reality we live in. They indulged the more insane elements of the pro-Israel lobby because it was politically useful in their efforts to attack Corbyn and Momentum.

This is the result. It was always playing with fire. None of them can now call out a fucking genocide. It’s heartbreaking.

fixed that bit for you.

if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it’s a fucking duck.

Problem is, politicians are so fucking concerned about their poll status they’ve forgotten what their intended purpose of being an elected official, actually is…

Worse: you’re not allowed to say that the Palestinians have been hard done by for decades now. I was explaining to some younger friends the recent history of the area and I was roundly booed for trying to explain- not excuse- Hamas’ actions.

Anything that isn’t 100% in support of Israel is suddenly deemed antisemitic.

that’s just pure ignorance on their part, though. 75% of Israel is Jewish, 20% of Israel is Muslim.

However, 100 years ago the numbers were much different.

Anyone that shallow in thought is just plain uneducated. my response would be to read the Balfour Agreement and understand what that meant to the population of Palestine 100 years ago

it’s no different than what the British did to the indigenous populations of the countries they colonizes at the end of the 19th century. Displaced their people from their homeland and slaughtered anyone who opposed them.

Not just the British, though. Pretty much every invading force throughout human existence has done that.

doesn’t make it any easier to justify, whether it be British, French, Dutch, etc.

Does human nature require justification?

People are, always have been and always will be fuckwits.

GREED is the key.

You spelt “insecurity” wrong.

If people were happy with who they are, the endless pursuit of power and riches would not exist.
