UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

I guess amongst the blatant and sometimes gratuitous nepotism/cronyism during the pandemic, we should remember that we were in effect on somewhat of a war footing. The billions that were lost could be chalked off to an extent. This is not to excuse the events but I wonder how efficient this war was with to others.

Labour has plans to try to get some of the publicā€™s money back:

Until Starmer performs another u-turn, at least.

I donā€™t expect the Liberals and Trudeau to get the 240mil back from the telecoms. that money has already been paid in dividends to shareholders as ā€œprofitā€.

Labour has plans to try to get some of the publicā€™s money back:

I hope they delve a lot deeper than the more obvious stuff hiding below the stealth blanket, of the fast track short-cut routes taken during covidā€¦ I hope they dig into the underhand lobbying that has been going on for a long time, and what excess monies was mispent down that road - The likes of David Cameron oiling up his greasy palms even further springs to mindā€¦!

Loose change to them, but sleazy nonetheless

it starts small, see if it gets noticed. if it doesnā€™t, sets precedent for larger risk

I think I read a week or two ago that Sunakā€™s personal poll ratings had now fallen below that of Johnson.

Obviously it wonā€™t happen, but if these patterns were replicated across the country the Tories would only be left with 29 seats.

Hereā€™s hoping!

Would certainly be interesting. Think @Mascot would have to have his mod powers removed though as Iā€™m banned from RAWK 3 times overā€¦ā€¦ Iā€™d have nowhere to go :confused::confused:

EDIT: This tweet really annoys me since they put the third-placed partyā€¦ Fourth in the list.

SNP seem to be on shaky ground themselves, how likely is it they will win most of the seats in Scotland?

How many of them are realistic targets for a resurgent labour vote?

Iā€™m curious what the likely make up of those Tories who do win their seats will be. How many will be of the Braverman/ Anderson wing and how many traditionalist or Social Conservative factions.

If Labour position themselves as a realistic alternative to the Tories, they could do well. If they are just sniping at the SNP they are likely to benefit the Conservatives as they did in the 2017 GE.

How many of the traditional One Nation Conservatives actually remain? Johnson and his mob forced most of them out. There are odd names that keep popping up so they may just be keeping their heads below the trenches and relying on being a popular local MP.

Thatā€™s why i was wondering. The smaller the parliamentary party the greater the voice of remaining MPā€™s?

It will speak volumes if the only (or vast majority of) Conservatives to retain their seats are traditional ā€œOne Nationā€ blues.

Youā€™d get to day two of a Labour Government before pissing everyone off by demanding to know why the country is still a mess.

Itā€™ll be due to the ineffective opposition.

3 greens donā€™t count as opposition, there needs to be a carrot and a neep as well!
