UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

how do you spell corruption.

Every fibre of me says that’s wrong but let me guess, there’s no rules, laws etc. that cover it.

All senior white male staff must get her signing off.

Is that not also a form of sdiscrimination?

Yes, I get the idea about improving diversity in the industry, but to my mind this is not the way to go about it.

That’s a strange take. Energy bills are so high people can’t afford them. So let’s not blame the energy company profiteering. Let’s blame the poor people.

Classic capitalism divide and conquer stuff, this.

So exactly where in my post did I blame the ā€œpoor peopleā€?

There is a mantle awaiting take up

Can’t energy companys just cut off people who don’t pay?
Isn’t there social aid to help people pay their energy bills?

Energy companys that demand this should just be told to fuck off!

I’m not sure they can. What they may do instead is move them onto a metred connection which has to be paid in advance ( and is more expensive for the user?).

I thought the can’t/won’t thing was a bit poor bashing to be honest.

No, me neither. I think what Norcott misunderstands is that Whitehouse and ā€˜woke’ progressives are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum.

Mary Whitehouse was a conservative Christian, who’s complaint was with media that fit outside her very narrow window of what she deemed appropriate - which was essentially a regious framework. (Although she had a point with Dr Who)

Modern progressives are pushing inclusion, which to me is the opposite.

Watching those old Hinchcliffe Doctor Who’s now, I’m stuck by how far they pushed the boundary of what is reasonable in a kids show. Hinchcliffe did take it too far in terms of horror and gore, and I’m not surprised the BBC conceded her point in the end.

Clearly.
I’d have been more surprised if you hadn’t found something to object to

Watching it at the time the difference between the previous Barry Letts series, which was an action adventure series with a strong progressive political theme to the Hinchclffe gothic horror was stark.

Having said that, there is some of the best 1970s TV in there. As are some of his later productions.

'Baroness Mone and Mr Barrowman told the BBC they were ā€œupfront, straight up peopleā€, and apologised for not telling the truth at the start, saying: ā€œWe both regret that we didn’t.ā€

Liar , liar … pants on fire .

When these tenders were awarded, would the UK still have been bound by EU regulations?

The whole thing is a massive case of corruption. I know that Bill Esterson said that a firm in his constituency was specifically excluded from tenders even though they were a specialist manufacturer for 50 years with stock that was ready to go.

Instead of that it was backhanders for their pals whilst people were literally dying due to a lack of kit.

It is the greatest trick of all time…Tories having convinced working class people they care about working class issues.

The Tories/GOP/Liberals…wherever…they exist only to strip assests and funnel money upwards.

The end.
