UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

I won’t go anywhere near that rag or it’s acolytes. Do you have a summary of what he said?

Just heard it in the radio. Went straight to the scum to get his flag waving, culture war bullshit out early. Starmer’s input meant that it’s the main topic on 5 Live. Alongside quotes from Farage and 30p

You got me curious, so I looked it up, and really? Is this the most important issue?

Did he give an interview just about that topic, or was he asked about it among other questions?

Could you give me a clue? I refuse to go anywhere near that rag even if my browser is in porn mode.

How do you make your browser go in porn mode?

Asking for a friend.

Nike’s new England shirt is just being released, and they have changed the St Georges cross on the back of the collar from the traditional red and white to different colours.

Personally, for me it isn’t the biggest issue to make a news story about, although I do understand why people aren’t happy about it. They would never dream of doing this to US flag for the US national team, so why is it ok to do do another countrys’ flag?

I think £120 for the kit is a bigger issue and is showing that the game is fast becoming out of touch with the fans

It was a former colleague of mine that coined that phrase. I had been working on a online diagnostic tool for NHS Scotland and needed to check the spelling of lots of medical conditions and drugs. After a week or so all the adverts on my browser were adverts for embarrassing medical conditions. My colleague suggested putting my browser into “Private” or “Incognito” mode so that I wasn’t tracked. However, he described this generically as “porn mode” which is what people (or so I am told) typically use it for.

Problem is, any argument from anyone about signs of patriotism is instanly jumped upon and right wing racist accusations follow.

In news that actually affects people’s lives, one has to wonder how this is not anti-competitive.

And Starmer was going on about that? No doubt the Scottish voter base is going to be lapping that up. Surely he could have said that it’s a matter for the sponsorship deal and left it at that.

In fact that is what he should have said. Keep it on brand for his party line.

I’m just curious why Tesco and Booker were allowed to merge.

In a previous job I was forbidden from belonging to a political party!

He did mention the price, apparently:

But, I also just read this nugget:

Not political, more political correctness.
Dosen’t put me up nor down either way what’s on the fucking bun, but changing it because 1/5th prefer a tick?

Hot tick buns don’t quite sound the same, do they?

Does the song now need to be changed?

No idea, frankly don’t care. Even the quick summary of the article notes that the traditional hot cross buns are still available, so the ones calling this out are the virtue-signalling ones.

Isn’t it the free-market ideal after all, if 20% of people want something else, you try to serve that market too?

For a second, I could not figure out why anyone in Britain would be upset at what buns are being sold in another country.
