@cynicaloldgit needs somewhere to find restaurant reviews after all…
It’s always good to know what your enemy is thinking.
Is it a case that the proportion is small but impact is large with this?
Its an honest question as i’m increasingly thinking that the Tories and Nigel Fuckwit have done such a good job of screwing the country there’s little hope of recovery.
Read the article, I think the estimate is that they could raise a few hundred million extra per year based on the lower rate of 33%, and more with a rate in the middle of the range, but they estimate that they would actually to lose revenue by the end of the parliamentary term if they raised it all the way to 39%, I presume from all the disincentives created by such a high rate.
To be fair, it affects 100% of the proprietors of those newspapers.
wow
I can’t say I agreed with him politically but I do remember one occasion when I ran off some data for him as a last minute request, and he wrote to my boss to thank me for my efforts, which was a nice touch.
Sadly (and possibly a post in the what’s happening thread) I’ve spent a huge amount of time in Clatterbridge Liverpool over the last year. We just bought a wheelchair in the end. They get nicked by the shed load, think shopping trolleys. Cunts will be cunts. One guy tried to “borrow” ours. That was funny.
Shoot the twats. Next?
Shoot everyone who espouses intrinsic Tory values?
Agreed.
I wonder what the Starmer government will do about this?
Nationalising the water network as the individual contracts expire would be a good start.
This should help them get off their fat a***s Good idea Sir Keir. I would make them compulsory…
I’m not sure this is the best road to go down, especially considering that there are many genetic factors to obesity.
But I don’t know much about the subject and I don’t really have the time to find out, so I’ll stick my nose out of this one.
Caller on Jeremy Vine earlier said, fair enough for those with overactive thyroids, but not overactive knives & forks
Incoming apologist onslaught
Factors like underlying health conditions and environmental factors spring to mind. The drugs that they are talking about are primarily meant to treat type II diabetes.
A move to a preventative health model is a good idea, but I would question how many people are unable to work due to obesity being the primary cause.
It’s underactive thyroids that can cause obesity. Overactive tends to have the opposite effect.
Well I may have misheard, and I’ve never claimed to have a medical background

I would question how many people are unable to work due to obesity being the primary cause.
I didn’t even think about this angle. I would wager that of major health issues, obesity isn’t one of the bigger ones.
I wonder if this is more playing towards the tabloid audience. If so, shame on Labour.
