UK Politics Thread (Part 3)

Yes and no, I think the worst is GPs complaining after doing nothing that patients then go on the internet to try and find out what’s up. They even get angry about it yet a half decent GP should have had a very good idea from the start.
Wait and see is a long and tried ‘way’ however the wait shouldn’t be more than 3 days (it’s to evaluate the effectiveness of the immune system against what the patient has). I used to do this (my Dad is a retired GP and adherred to this) so after 3 days if my symptoms worstened I’d then get in to see the doctor. The problem now is it takes 2 weeks or more to get an appointment which by then a kid with strep throat could be dead and buried.
There’s a lack of urgency, common sense and simple vetting. The system is broken and that’s not just in the UK though that’s where I hear the worst ‘delays’. The thing is for a runny nose, ear ache and sore throat you need 3 appointments to check the 3 things, even if it’s all the same illness.
Btw modern medecine has definitely turned to giving no diagnostic until symptoms are flagrant, extreme and far too late!

I could probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve felt the need to visit a GP in the last 10 years, so lucky in that respect.

I did have the need to visit one about 3 years ago.
Told him the problem, which he dealt with in about 3 minutes by simply writing a prescription.
I was satisfied with that outcome.
Said to him, I had another concern, to which he responded he was only supposed to address one issue per appointment and I’d have to make another appointment.

I said to him, listen sonny, it took me 3 fucking weeks to get this one, don’t think you’re fobbing me off after 3 minutes to go and book another one.

Any comments on this piece? Her narrative does chime with what I’ve heard.

Is it really that bad?

Bloody hell, how is she?

Actually concerned that it’s yet another sexual behaviour case linked to someone in Westminster. What the fuck is it with that place.

MPs represent society. Wherever you go, you’ll get deviants/perverts/whatever.

If this guy (I assume it’s a guy) is found guilty, he should be kicked out of the party and face criminal charges. There’s no place for sexual assault or harassment anywhere.

And a party in summer at the height of lockdown in 2021 no less …

Having spent some time working around both the Canadian Parliament and the US Congress, I firmly believe that the personalities attracted to life as a politician are not genuinely representative, they skew significantly worse. Far more narcissists, fragile egos, petty senses of hierarchy, bullies, etc.

This should be a conversation starter…

Definitely something about that building and being an MP it seems. How many reports, cases is it now?

I think @Arminius’ point is probably bang on but Westminster is like a conveyor belt of society’s garbage. They just wear suits.

Who’s saying that?

Certainly no-one here.

No-one.
They do say silence is deafening though, couple of comments since it was posted.
Let’s be honest, if it had been a Tory MP there would be about 5 pages of condemnation posts.

It’s besides the point, but that wasn’t even close to the height of lockdown.

I was going to comment that it was being treated seriously by the Labour Party and that an investigation was underway , but considered it redundant since that had already been reported out.

What else were you expecting to hear ?
