Maybe this example will turn the spotlight onto profiteering, which is the real cause of the current high inflation rates.

Forget the fact that nobody in the twenty first century should be in such a situation in the first place…

Let them eat fish paste sandwiches !

I also notice in that report that the price of oats has shot up. The standard response of the uncaring rich is that the poor should live off gruel.

I thought they were pretty patient.

They’re lucky it was only water that got thrown over them.

I know a lot of couriers and delivery guys through work and a fair few of them would have pissed into empty bottles and used that if they were there.

The trouble with protests (and strikes) is that the people who are inconvenienced are people who can do absolutely fuck all to make the changes that the protestors want to see made.

I think the Just Stop Oil protesters started off protesting outside oil terminals. I don’t think they got much publicity.

I think my problem with them is that I’m not entirely sure what they are after. You can’t ā€œjust stop oilā€ without society falling apart. Certainly we want to reduce it but that is a very complex thing.

I suppose there was the ā€œInsulate Britainā€ protest which had a very specific aim but that was largely ignored as well. Then again, if government have ignored the advice of their own economists, there is sod all chance of them getting their arse into gear because a group of hippies have glued themselves to the road.

I’m not trying to downplay the issue, but baby formula is even more expensive over here in France. That’s not to say I am not concerned. Just that its likely a problem the world over for new parents in these times.

This is potentially serious:

It looks like the lack of vehicle battery production in the UK could affect the country of origin status of car production which may well hit the Ellesmere Port Vauxhall/Opel factory.

Government will find some gaffa tape and bodge it.

If we want to put an end to the Stop Oil protests, then it’s really simple. Stop the fucking insanity of digging up new oil and fossil fuels to burn and properly invest in green technologies to replace them.

Their demands are entirely reasonable and proportional. I’m sorry drivers feel inconvenienced, but let’s see how inconvenienced they feel when we can’t grow food, billions of people are displaced, and world wars are breaking out over clean water supplies.
