UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

The votes didn’t go in anyone’s favour, aside from a small cabal of politicians and financial players. As the remain side warned it wouldn’t.

This idea of ‘you lost, get over it’ is pathetic. This isn’t a game of football. Everybody lost. And that it was ten years ago is irrelevant. The impacts till form so much of our political landscape. We’re about to elect a far right government because people are angry about immigration, which has become much worse because of the Brexit they voted for.

There is a saying that those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We can’t even learn from history when it was only ten years ago and it’s literally the same spoofers lying to us.

I really didn’t want to get involved in this discussion, but if you can’t see the similarity between your statement above and what is happening today then honestly, you are the problem.

Simply put, Fascism requires enemies. It is a common trait through all forms from its original roots in Italy and in Nazi Germany.

You are not aware of the term Jewish Bolshevism ?

Do me a favour before responding (if you choose to respond) and google Oswald Mosley and Jewish bolshevism. After you have read of Mosley and Jewish Bolshevism, we can discuss if he was anti semitic or not.

And yet you did get involved. You have jumped into a conversation you were not part of - something you pulled me up on previously - to provide your righteous opinion. Condescendingly telling me that I am the problem because I don’t agree with a fellow posters statement.
It’s called an opinion, I disagreed with what the poster said and challenged it.
I really don’t see the need for you to jump in to the conversation with your repetitive style of posting where ‘you are right and I am wrong’.
Have you ever contemplated providing some substance to support your post?

So….are any European countries (ignoring the Russia/Ukraine war ironically aimed at removing Nazism) mobilising their military to invade neighbouring countries.
If Reform were voted into power at the next General election do you seriously believe they are going to start rounding up Immigrants, sending them to Camps and Gassing them.
Is Europe on the verge of WWIII?

Furthermore after the Second world War it was the Irish that were the problem, then the Afro-Caribbean community, to the point that Far Right marches were taking place. Signs were put up saying no Irish, no Blacks and no Dogs!
Recently we have seen the British public support marches for the Black Lives Matter and recently in support of Palestine - No mass Military parades of Foot soldiers supporting the Aryan race - a term incorrectly adopted.
So please show me the similarities of 2020’s Britain to 1930’s Germany/Italy.

Additionally, if the continent of Europe is progressively reverting back to 1930’s levels of Facism have you ever contemplated why? I mean the European Union is this great big “whatever” so why is there so much discontent across its member states? Why is there a rise in support for RW parties? But I guess I am the problem :man_shrugging:t3:

I think you may have misunderstood my post or I have not explained myself correctly.
I am in no way disputing if he was anti-Semitic or not. I have never suggested he was/wasnt, I referenced Oswald as an alternative to Mascots comment about 1930’s Facism and then when challenged falling back on the Nazi’s. In fact, I chose to reference him due to his economic policies. On an additional note, I am well aware of the controversy (probably the wrong word to use) of his Son? Max Moseley dressing up in SS uniform.

I did google ‘Jewish Bolshevism’ as it was a term I was unfamiliar with. After reading the definition I was surprised because it referred to a perception I was familiar with. I actually referred to this in a previous post which got blocked.
If you go by conspiracy theories, whether it be the Rothschilds, symbols on the Dollar, the misconception of Adam Weisphaut being Jewish and the Illuminati, 9/11, etc then yeah there is a lot of blame/accusation without substance.

Happy to discuss this privately as I am open to learning. Additionally, if my post did cause you any offence then I sincerely apologise. That was not my intention. :+1:t2:

Edit: I have re-read my post and understand how it comes across. Again my apologies, I didn’t explain myself properly.

Evening, I wasn’t defending him, I was trying to debate his early economic and anti-communist views.
I hold my hands up and accept that my comment was not factually correct and apologise.

Please state where I said “you lost, get over it”. I purposely didn’t say this because I understand that the decision to leave affects people lives/livelihoods differently to mine. Something I will never understand.
I am not getting into the ins and outs of Brexit because we will never agree and guess what because it is irrelevant now. It’s done, it’s history, in the past etc, etc. could it have been handled better, yes, did people understand what they were voting for, no! Fuck me, that’s every general election.
As I said, move on, don’t let it define you! Why waste your time and energy being angry at something that has already happened. Why wish for something to fail so you can say ‘I told you so’, that’s pathetic! As you say the decision forms our political landscape going forward so let’s just embrace the negatives why don’t we!
I am sure you are aware that Britain didn’t exactly thrive on joining the EU and that it took time.

I respect you as a poster and for supporting your own opinion but why are you so generalising in your blame? From your posts everything is the fault of someone else, someone stupid, racist, corrupt, etc, etc.
Have you ever considered that maybe your views are slightly off, I mean it can’t all be a coincidence can it? Why did the UK vote leave the EU? Why did it take 14 years of Tory austerity to vote in Labour? Why is it that people are likely to Vote Reform at the next election - A party you call RW and which have no genuine policy/mandate?

So yes, I agree with your saying that people that don’t learn from history…. Whether it to be the RW and rise in Fascism of 1930’s to believing in anything that comes out of the mouths of politicians.

It’s a public forum. If you want private conversations there’s a DM feature for that. Otherwise I came into it because you were wrong. That’s not an opinion.

Not sure what you mean by this. Fascism doesn’t mean you invade someone.

They have said they would, yes. And put them in camps probably.

That’s how fascism works. Once one enemy is no longer the issue, another one is fabricated.

Do you think all of the German population were all Nazi’s or the Italians before them? Including the ones that lost their language? They weren’t but were simply complicit in falling for the rhetoric and their acceptance of it.

No idea where you got that from, I never said that. You are constantly guilty of taking 2+2 and making 7. As explained previously to you numerous times, the rise of far right parties always thrives in times of economic struggle. And that’s exactly what we have.

Enjoy that, I won’t involve myself in your wildly incorrect ideas further. I would have to request that you ask yourself where the hell you get them from though.

Sorry, I had to pick this up. The Nazis did not start gassing people as soon as they came to power. It took them 9 years in power to get to that stage.

They started with, trade unionists, political opponents (communists and socialists) and community leaders. Essentially, anyone who could oppose them. The civil rights of others were severely curtailed, but the idea that they were carrying out genecide from the start a fallacy. However, they were attacking the rights of minorities from the get-go.

It’s worth remembering Martin Niemöller’s famous poem. There are some frightening parallels in the UK at the moment.

Yep. I fully expect a Reform government to hollow out the Civil Service and other protection bodies. They’ve said as much.
ECHR too. And the whole purpose of that was to keep government away from deciding or interfering in the rights of citizens.

Stop catastrophising, guys.

Trump didn’t really intend to do all those things he said he was going to do.

Nastier than a freezing cold Tuesday night in Stoke.

You’re missing the Irony, it was a flippant response. I suppose you conveniently forgot the time you cried foul because I responded to one of your posts that was not directed to me.
Maybe the DM feature is a new addition to the forum….
Yes, I was wrong, you keep telling me this. How can I be wrong when the thing we were discussing hasn’t happened?

Really? No shit. What’s your point? Another poster compared Britain today to 1930’s Germany, you suggested I was the problem for not understanding the similarities. My response was flippant, do you see any RW Government who may potentially get voted into power of “insert Country” marching across Europe? No! So the similarities are no where near the same.

I guess this is a WUM moment :+1:t2:.

Huh, so the UK has no Irish or Afro-Caribbean population?
So Facism is purely about enemies? Who do you blame for everything that is wrong with today’s society? The RW press, Tories/Reform, Brexit voters, they are you enemies are they not?

Nazism came from National Socialism, from the movement started predominantly by Hitler. So no they were not technically Nazi’s before then but may have shared similar views.
What is rhetoric, why do you just narrow it down to Nazism? Look at the history of the world, how much rhetoric has there been? the World was flat, women were witches, a Man died on a cross and came back to life, it is all rhetoric is it not? As a society we are all complicit.

This is tedious!

Please provide evidence of the numerous times where it has previously been explained to me the rise of the Far Right and that it always thrives in times of economic struggle? Further more provide factual information to support this.

You really have this complex about everything being Far Right, because it challenges your views.
Of course if a Government is failing their people direct/indirectly there is going to be discontent is it all RW? I am sure you understand the concept of RW/LW from the French Revolution.
So…when the Tories were failing the people and imposing Austerity was the support for Labour RW? I mean we had 14 years of it and then voted in Labour, so the RW Tories created economic struggle, got voted out for the LW Labour, who have done little (for various reasons not all of them their own) to change the Economic struggles of the Country. I suppose Economic struggles only started in the 20th Century!

Please feel free to not respond to my posts, I have no issue with that. Also feel free to disagree with my opinions, whether supported factual or not.
However, please don’t come on here and call people out as being wrong based purely because you say so! Don’t tell people they are wrong or stereotype them because you ‘say so’.
Maybe reflect on your own actions, be less melodramatic and consider that maybe your approach in no better than the people you call out. Sure we all want a fairer world but it needs balance and in my opinion you don’t get there by dismissing everyone who has a different opinion to you.

Anyhow, all the best.

I appreciate that. I was being flippant with the OP.

I understand that there are parallels across the UK/World society at the moment to the 1930’s but then again the Parallels preceded the 1930’s.
I made the comment because although there are Parallels, it is wrong to compare it to the Nazi’s and the Genocide of the Jewish community.
The world is full of hate based on differing views, look at the Middle East, Africa, etc. why is it that after 1000’s of year of “Civilisation” we still have the same problems?

I don’t think it’s wrong. The Holocaust was horrific, but it is hardly alone in terms of genocides. Each have their own features, and it is worth noting the conditions that allowed them to proceed.

Yes.

The ascertain that we are in a similar place to 1930’s Germany is bang on. The Nazis didn’t start killing Jews until the 1940’s. The political moves and rhetoric being played out today is very similar.

I haven’t read your reply above for the record. I have other books to read.
