UK Politics Thread (Part 4)

Where’s he playing now?

We could use him down back.

What I don’t understand about him is that it’s basically been common knowledge that he is sexually and financially dodgy as fuck for about 25 years now. And yet Starmer thought he’s the man I want representing British interests in America. It’s was an absolutely baffling appointment. It doesn’t need the hindsight of his name appearing in the Epstein files. Nobody can say ‘well, that’s disappointing’. What did Starmer think was going to happen? It inevitable he was going to end up fired, and inevitable that he was going to end up mired in scandal through trying to massage his bank account or his cock.

I think he probably convinced Starmer that he was the person best placed (connected) to be able to deal with Trump. And Starmer being Starmer , i.e. a PM with zero political nous was fool enough to believe him.

I watched that interview he did with Kuenssberg a few weeks back and was not surprised to be reminded of just what a smarmy self-serving fucker he is. What was genuinely shocking however was when she asked him if he would apologise personally to the victims and he just couldn’t do it , ‘apologising’ instead for allowing himself to believe Epsteins lies … and this after his conviction !

A couple of days later he issued a personal apology , clearly realising how truly awful he made himself look. Notably that was repeated again in his latest statement. See , he’s just a victim too.

You’re being far too kind to him

So when I said earlier in this thread that no matter what good they do as a government, they are incredibly shit at playing the game. This example is another example of just being completely dumb in full knowledge that the deck is stacked against them already.

Full blown criminal investigation now for Mandy. Fuck me , he could be going to jail. I couldn’t imagine anybody less suited to prison than him.

Would he have been fired if the Epstein files hadn’t been released?

In a way he was a cynical play - an insider with intimate knowledge of how things are done and get done…

Lord of Cheese in jail would be something.

Nope. I just find it incredibly stupid that as a government that isn’t supported by the right wing media, you wouldn’t check every appointment and drum into your cabinet that everything has to be squeaky clean. It’s kind of obvious that they’re going to look at everything.

Getting passed around like a rag doll?
He’d probably love that.

We said this before the election, didn’t we. Labour were like a Liverpool going into a game against City with Oliver refereeing and Kavanagh on VAR. Best behaviour lads. Don’t give them any opportunity.

Can that work. In that he was a “good” choice. An “in” in a world that rotates around an orrange.

You’ve got me, I don’t know. From a UK perspective I don’t think it stood a chance in hell. The media would grab any tiny thread and pull it.

Globally, putting someone there that knows The Orange One kinda makes sense I guess but would a good review picked it up?

I’m pretty sure the review got him the job.

It’s almost like those promises of magic-bean-economics where taxes go down and public services go up are just vacuous lies told to fool idiots.

The Tories are pressing hard now to find out just exactly how he did get the job. The suspicion being it was forced through at the urging of Starmer’s Chief of Staff , Morgan McSweeney , who was historically close to Mandy.

Finch is also facing his 3rd misconduct inquiry / hearing or whatever.

If you live by the sword you can die from it.
