I think, by observing from (Singapore?), you have misunderstood rather a lot of nuances here. There is, even according to those you are here critical of, something called a hierarchy (the word relative also comes to mind). You know, a hierarchy as in someone calling you a fool, then someone calling you a mindless cunt and later far worse, then someone actually breaking your bones, then someone breaking your bones, but in a sadistic torture-like manner. Then raping you as well. Then killing you. Then killing you and then mutilating your corpse. Then killing you and then mutilating your corpse while also sending the pieces back to your mother with a video of how you were tortured and murdered.
You know, scale. So rather obviously, no one half sane would think that someone calling someone a man, if they identify as a female, is equally serious as breaking someoneās bones or indeed violence committed in a war.
Anyway, sorry. I saw now scrolling down, that a lot of others had replied to you, so my reply was rather superfluous tbh. But what you wrote wasnāt sensible really. Relativity, nuance, scale and hierarchy. Or a pyramid (or onion if you prefer).
Maybe a bit more simply put; questions of identity and certainly less important ones such as what pronouns one personally prefers, is only ever interesting if you are located a bit higher up on Maslowās pyramid.
If you are located a bit further down, you have, generally speaking, different priorities.
Maybe the most impressive part, is that you are ignorant enough, to consider that English may not be the posterās native language. I suppose it is easier to mock someone and put a in your reply, than actually say that their point may have been lost in translation and ask if they could elaborate.
My understanding of @gasbands post is (so please accept that they havenāt actually said this) is that stepping on Dog shit or a landmine is non comparable. Even so, what gives you the right to decide on how the said person views their situation. The western world/democracy claim to value the freedom of speech/mind/opinion, but in fact, there is a percentage of the population, like yourself. Who consider their opinions more important than others and rather than respect or consider other peoples opinions are only too keen to dismiss them as stupid.
Anyhow, thatās just my interpretation of their post. Maybe, ask them to explain just for clarity.
Thanks Magnus for your reply. Let me say upfront that I always enjoyed reading your posts even if I donāt have your level of knowledge of the wars and happenings in your sphere of interest. They are usually fair and unbiased.
Of course just on this post alone, I can only say I understand all that you are saying in this post, and I know you donāt mean it that way, but just in case for others, yes I think I am pretty well educated and know these theories you put here well enough, though, as you can see, education means shit.
But I appreciate your post, as I said, I think itās a fair and respectful response to my post which you donāt agree with with obviously but that is always fine.
You probably interpret my post reasonably close enough. But I have no response because I say just what I want to say. I hope thatās allowed in the western democracies. Which means I am ok with however people want to respond. I am not overly enthusiastic to be the moral beacon of righteousness on the internet, which some obviously make it a mission to be. So there, I will just leave it, and will respond or write something again when I feel like it.
Yes. They were unable to do what they wanted to because of this little thing they were dealing with, called reality. Some of what they were claiming was plainly bananas.
Yes. You missed the part where the pound had a massive fall after Brexit, which mitigated many of the effects, where the unemployment rise was masked by COVID, and the many incentives given by the government to avoid the car manufacturers leaving. If you can find a list of claims with sources that they were by the āRemain campaignā as opposed to individuals making individual claims, Iād be happy to investigate the claims and what happene in the aftermath of Brexit.
I think I have the awareness to understand my limits, and I know when I need to defer to expertise I donāt have. Brexit is a classic example of that. I donāt understand global economics and international trade, but everyone who can be called an expert on the subject is telling me to vote remain. My preference would be that we donāt deal with massive complex issues through referendums.
A lot of people read one fucking blog from a Google search and think they know everything.
My kids talk about Brexit tackles too, but my understanding is that itās a hard, reckless revenge tackle that invariably causes yourself injury as well.
