I simply stated that there are suggestions out there, lots of them
What a cop-out.
There are suggestions that Richard Gere stuck a gerbil up his arse hole
So youāre saying there arenāt?
So youāre saying he didnāt?
I would equally like to see your evidence of this (unless its on film)
Lots of people suggest the Earth is flat too. And thats exactly my position on this. By all means make out there suggestions but back them up.
Are you saying it isnāt?
Nice deflection.
Only in the mind of a few
Jesus Christ. Thatās low, even for you.
Desperate Dane.
Welcome back Manuel
Who do you think handed him the gerbil?
Youāre a very naughty boy
I would actually go further than Monbiotās proposals and restrict the purchasing of property to UK passport holders only, individuals only, those over the age of 18 only and only one property per person.
Such common sense will never be actioned, though, as it would be to the financial detriment of the politicians and their chums.
Make it illegal to turn a property into an HMO too
relating this to australian property theres a few massive issues there that would need to be compromised (i.e if a development company cant by a large plot of land with a single existing dwelling, then who is building the housing stock) but im sure that could be overcome with common sense, the 18 year old and passport holders whilst problematic on a few smaller technicalities could be very positive in cooling demand, the limiting of one property per person is the most interesting oneā¦ithe knock on effect of a bubble in the share market and commercial property could be dangerous, but if it was limited to say a three year period, it could just ease that demand enough, my guess is youd still have a raft of demand by the boomer generation funding deposits for younger relativesā¦
id love to read an indepth article on it (relating to the australian property market) ā¦
interesting
I can see where youāre going with this but wouldnt ond property per person kill the rental market? I concede something needs to happen with that as well.
Yes to reform of property ownership but also land. Not farm land, the land hoarders, grouse moor toffs, and the like.
And fuck me would I love to tax the shit out of the Royal family for the rental stunts they pull under the Duchy. Charging the NHS rent ffs.
Some sort of land value tax could cover that. I think it had been suggested as an alternative to council tax but whenever it was proposed, the parties wet themselves over the consequences.
I remember reading an opinion piece a while ago suggesting that it was precisely the private rental market that has led to the affordability crisis. I canāt seem to find it now, I think itās this one, but Iām not 100% sure:
