You mean the kamado style bbq? Took me years to convince the wife no one would steal it from the lake. I donāt think she fully appreciated the effort of carrying it down a 10 meter hillā¦

Yep. I lifted it onto the stand on my own. Nearly blew my stomach out my arse.
It had to sit on the upper level of the deck until we had a bbq and some mates could help me carry it down to where I wanted it.

So, sorry, my bad for not being aware that a review had taken place. However, no plan has been put in place, no spending committed to or budgeted for - so probably going to follow the same route as a recent defence review.

As a comparison, we have what is known as a SperrmĆ¼ll collection in Germany. Each household is entitled to have waste up to 6mĀ³ collected free of charge up to twice per year. (Itās about 75ā¬ after that). The result is that you donāt get flytipping - or at least it is rare.
Additionally, they tend not to be complete arseholes about household waste. There is a national categorisation of waste and it covers most things. The residual waste is basically just a bucket.
Itās not perfect. People arenāt perfect. But when the government and population actually behave like adults over waste its much less of a problem.

Because council tips use council staff. Getting rid means they can show a saving, while the contractors cost appears in another part of the department budget and under less scrutiny. There will be the cost of tendering the contract as well.

yep, its a gross misuse of public funds, most people with even a cursory insight know whats what, and ultimately, its disgusting the way the public are held in such contempt.

Yeah.
My experience was joining an engineering consultancy that was basically formed off the back the back of various councils getting rid of all their highway engineering staff. In my time there, that company was then bought out by a massive US firm.
From the councils perspective they showed a massive saving in staff costs, but our costs then came out of their highway revenue and capital budgets. Those budgets barely moved during my time there, while our costs certainly did.
What also happened with councils and local authorities that let blue white collar contracts for their entire highway services was completely off the scale. I was involved in that for a while too.

Not happy to hear this at all. Around here you see a whole kitchen in pieces and dumped on the side of the road. Canāt recall ever seeing stuff like that in Oz, but I will of course defer to you on it!!

Many years ago, you could arrange an additional kerbside pick up at the cost of Ā£10.
We had used the service a couple of times, getting rid of kids stuff as my lad grew older.
Twice in succession, I saw a car pull up (we live in a cul de sac) and a well dressed bloke got out and brazenly lifted a bike and then a mini trampoline weād left out.
Cheeky twat.
Couple of weeks later weād arranged for a VHS video recorder to be uplifted.
Same bloke pulled up and lifted it.
I still chuckle at what his reaction will have been when he put a tape in and realised the reason it wasnāt working was because of the dog shit Iād put inside the machine
