Birmingham risks being plunged into chaos after a crushing election result for the ruling Labour group left the embattled city council with no political leadership just as it was moving on from a bankruptcy crisis.

Reform UK emerged as the largest party after the May 7 vote but has opted to sit in opposition, saying other parties had declined to work with it. Labour, which had led the council since 2012, announced on Friday evening that it would not enter any coalition or power-sharing agreement.

This has left the Green Party, which came second, struggling to form an administration to oversee the largest local authority in Europe.

From the FT…

Good to see the kiddies getting along…I needn’t have worried the other day…

Hang on. Reform won the election but are refusing to form an administration? They are fucking clowns.

Have a peak at the shit show happening in Worcestershire. Extra special goings on there, either even Badenoch dragged into it.

I realise I went a bit silly this AM but I still it was worth putting out there.
If someone has an alternative hypothesis as to why we’re all skint, and everything is turning into a shit hole I’m all ears. Waiting patiently for the government waste post to arrive.

Why can“t both right wing and left wing be right?

Maybe mass immigration and the mega rich are both big problems.

Or they could both be wrong and neither are

I never said mass immigration wasn’t a problem. I said it was a different issue to irregular immigration.

The government could shut down regular immigration tomorrow if it wanted to.

The perception is they are one and the same. They are not.

And yes centralised wealth is an issue.

One of these things is not like the other…

Wait, I just saw news that someone was elected in parliament on a visa status, assuming that means the person is not a citizen? How does that work? It’s allowed throughout UK or just Scotland? To me, it sounds crazy if I have a non citizen in government deciding stuff for the country.

That needs a link.
You can not just post stuff like that without some verifiable source.

I think this is the story @gasband is referring to

Well that gives context and some answers.
Perhaps someone can answer now.

Who knew, right?

He is an Indian, and hence Commonwealth, citizen. They have always been able to stand for election provided they have a current visa or indefinite right to remain.

they“re all not like the other. Each sentence pair.

I was referring to another hypothesis of why we are all skint and suggested maybe it“s because of both what left wing and right wing blame combined

The government could do many things tomorrow if it wanted to.

Have you ever heard of sarcasm/irony and your response just emphasises the Left views on everything.
Yourself, Mascot, SBYM, etc constantly focusing your time on pulling up RW parties or blaming them without holding your own party to account. Making excuses for them, blaming everything on the Tories and now it is turning sour for Labour, they are all of a sudden RW. You really can’t write it.
The RW did not want a Labour government, yet according to you we are brainwashed by RW Media.
So the Labour Government, you probably voted for are now considered RW and acted like most politicians and couldn’t keep their noses clean, despite their whole campaign of ā€œchangeā€.
So they are now RW because they made bad decisions, made false promises? And you all have the cheek to try and mock me.

I don’t/didnt want Labour to fail, I have stated that. I don’t want any Government to fail because it usually means us, the public get fucked over. But you, you are so happy for a RW party to fail.

Honestly, answer me this. If someone had a crystal ball and said Farage/Reform getting voted in at the next election would see prosperity and our poverty falling would you vote for him?
No, you wouldn’t because you’re so resentful and bitter. It would mean you were wrong. I would vote for Corbyn tomorrow if it meant a change in the countries and its peoples fortunes.

It is because people like you sit on your moral high ground and dismiss their concerns.
You spout that the RW parties are weaponising people’s concerns and at the same time you dismiss the same people’s concerns by your own ignorance. So why would people vote or allign with Left Wing politics? People want to be heard and unfortunately all the Left do is shut down critical thinking. Dont get me wrong the Right do also, maybe more so, but that’s expected, they are not pandering. They don’t proclaim to be better.

Look at this thread. I accept it is predominantly Labour and I respect that. But because I challenge your thinking and am not willing to fall inline with the echo chamber I am singled out.
It’s playground stuff, someone makes a dig at me and it’s all chuckles and emojis, it’s okay to call me a racist, RW, etc, Yet, I suggest someone has characteristics of a politician and they throw their toys out the pram. I respond in kind to you and others and it’s give it a rest/leave me alone, stop picking on me.

And who does the blame lie with? Wealth has always filtered up, just like shit always roles down hill.
The system is broken, I am not blaming anyone but at the same time I am not excusing anyone. People blaming people on benefits and immigrants is no different to you blaming pensioners leaching the system. Yet, to get a state pension you actually have to pay into the system in the first place.
I have stated and will state again that immigration is vital and has always been vital. There are many non British workers who do an amazing job, there are also people who expect a free ride and that includes white British nationals.

Yes, a big problem is the over valuation of American companies compared to UK companies which sees them open to take over. But when you consider the Norwegian Government wealth fund own most of North Sea reserves, the French own our energy infrastructure and Airports, the post office is now foreign owned and struggling while foreign postal companies have been thriving for decades.
Our steel is Chinese owned and due to our commitment for greener production using Arc furnaces which are more electrically hungry the industry is no longer competitive.

You said you wouldn’t entertain the UK making a trade agreement with Trump, I believe citing it as not important. You stated a deal would involve the NHS being sacrificed, that as of yet has not come to the Table.

Look we all have concerns, just because our concern may differ slightly as long as the intentions are true then what does it matter? Why get hung up on things we can’t control?

My god, I posted a link that contained points relevant to both of your discussions. I never made a statement, an opinion, said either of you were wrong. I provided a link, with some stats because you failed to do so.

I also suggested we agree to move on from it.

You’re never honest unless it suits your narrative. Funny how you call me insulting and then suggest you are no different. The only difference being is that you would lose your ā€œPowerā€ as a mod.
I am surprised that you have not sacked one of your civil servants for your failure to provide any substance to your debate.
