Conflicting information. Early statements suggested otherwise, and the details the FBI have now given make it seem incidental, but they are definitely presenting it in a way that is related to him. I am still skeptical though

FBI official statement characterizes it as an assassination attempt, but reporting makes it seem the shots fired were by USSS so waiting to hear what it was that made the guy a threat other than simply carrying the gun on public property as he is legally allowed to do

CNN are reporting that he did not fight in Ukraine. Instead, he went there in order to supply some undefined military equipment and to encourage other people to go there and fight. He does not have a military background. He had a company in Hawaii that built cheap houses for the homeless.
@Limiescouse apparently the Secret Service agent noticed the rifle (AK 47) sticking out from some bushes and opened fire. The would-be assassin then ran off, got into his car and drove away. It just so happened that a passer-by saw him run out of the bushes and drive off and thought it appropriate to take a picture which they immediately passed to the police.
Lots of questions here. How did the would-be assassin know that Trump would be playing golf at that golf course on that day and would be passing near him at that time? Who is this witness and why was that person walking past the golf course at just the right moment? Nobody walks in America, in fact I have been stopped by the police there for walking on a sidewalk at night!
Also, the suspect had previously been involved in an armed stand off with the police some years ago in which he had possession of a fully automatic machine gun. I haven’t heard any mention of him doing time for that, which is strange as possession of a fully automatic machine gun is illegal in the US. And how did he get an AK 47, which if I’m not mistaken, is also a fully automatic weapon?
