I imagine most here dont know who this guy is, but he is a long time, very well regarded sports columnist from Miami who for 10-15 years had a significant role within ESPN. He started having a bit of an existential crisis during the Trump presidency increasingly feeling like sports were pointless in comparison to what really mattered and facing the reality that he was handcuffed by ESPN policy on political discussion. So he left and and started his own network with the help of his former boss at ESPN where he is now free to do this sort of thing.

What is ironic to me… His best pal Trump the Ogre, has conveniently forgotten, this guy Musk, is an immigrant…!
If he continues spewing the level of venom that he is at the moment, he will only have himself to blame, if someone decides to take him out. There are plenty of Mark Chapman tribute acts out there, that would do it for the fame it brings…

Musk is white and speaks english as a first language. It doesnt count.

And I dont even mean that facetiously. That is literally the way these people think about immigration. Musk doesnt view himself as part of “immigrant” debate, and Trump thinks immigration is fine as long as people come from white english speaking countries not those shit hole places.

Sadly, but obviously off topic, so do the East Indian community in the uk - re the immigration conversation.

I didn’t give credibility to them, and obviously most of what Trump says is either a flat lie or a serious misrepresentation, but in order for democracy to work, there needs to be an agreement about what is acceptable and candidates have always claimed that what they say is true even if it was easily disprovable.
After all, what is the point of debates or interviews if everything is total fantasy? Trump has pushed this to the limit, but now Vance, by admitting that he fabricated the Springfield hoax, has made all political speech dishonest.
The aim is that the electorate will be so cynical and skeptical that they won’t believe anything that either side says. This matters because there is one side that is attempting to argue their case using facts and that is becoming ever more difficult.

Quinnipac post-debate poll puts Harris six clear in PA and five in Michigan. More importantly , Trump’s massive advantage on the economy and immigration has been whittled right down.

The polls are still incredibly confusing. Six clear in PA would be huge, but I dont buy it and saw Harry Enton 2 nights ago (one of the old guys from 538 before it turned weird who know works for CNN) describe Harris as being down by a point in PA in their weighted average.

I think the thing that sums it up is the poll that showed Trump leading by a couple of points on “the economy” but Harris leading by a big margin on what she’d do for the economic situation of working and middle class voters.

Fed have just announced a 0.50% cut to interest rates. I wonder how that will affect polling figures going forwards, if at all?

Teamsters officially make a decision to stay on the fence

The Biden admin was the most pro union since the new deal and the opponent is explicitly anti union. Reports are that internal polling of union members favors Trump, and it appears O Brien is kowtowing to that, which seems to ignore what the point of a union endorsement is. It is supposed to represent the wishes of the members, it is supposed to be a signal from leadership on which decision would best serve the membership. It is difficult to see O Brien doing anything other than trying to avoid a challenge to his leadership from telling them something they dont want to hear.

To add from above:

The most worrying numbers for the dems is that Biden was way, way ahead of Trump, now its Trump way, way, way ahead of Harris. When I analyze this, it makes sense as most union members are economically sensitive, meaning cost of living increase will be noticed in the paycheck. This would of been the same for last election due to the hit from covid. The economy being the most important issue, it makes sense to me.

EDIT: It might not have been last election, Biden numbers might have been from before he dropped out.

The Hatians in Springfield are living here and working legally. But to Vance and the like it is fine to call them illegal because they are purposefully not using the word in its actual meaning. Immigration, the border, illegals…these are just code words to signal a rejection of black and brown people being able to be here.

And yes, I know Vance has a brown wife. That is her issue to reconcile though not mine.

Polling taken before or after the raft of news piece about how this signals the economy is faltering and how its bad for Biden (and Harris).

imo no as it wont have enough time to go into effect so that voters will notice the difference.

Also important to note that the Teamsters have always been somewhat criminal twats, something of an outlier in the history of American labor.

Their membership is also a real outlier from most unions because a significant percentage are owner-operators and have a significant amount of capital tied up in their trucks. That makes them behave a lot more like the median Republican voter on taxation issues, and obviously enough makes them hypersensitive to gas prices.

Never heard of the Teamsters, not going to lie.

Seriously? A bunch of youth players on a team.
