US Election 2024

It’s Nob Bluff you wallaby dick. It’s guaranteed to be scripted unfortunately, but at least we will be able to hear about her mom, lawn, sister again when asked about the economy.

You PM’d me and promised to read every of MY posts if I removed timezones. Your memory is getting bad.

I know I’ve never PM’ed you. My memory isn’t that bad.

I’m going to vote Democrat. I go election by election and would never nail my colors to the mast to be a lifelong this, or that, politically speaking.

Trump is a racist.

Trump is not a Nazi.

Trump is a borderline fascist. I could argue this one either way, but to be purely academic about it, he is not a fascist, though he has fascist tendencies. If enough of the Project 25 agenda plays out, and Trump does some of the things he says he will do, I could easily revise my opinion to say he is a full blown fascist.

Which is why I specifically started with “While I actually don’t agree with…”

Damit, I’m dreaming about you again but thanksfully I’m not waking up with an erection.

Which is totally your right as a US citizen. You can vote for whoever you want. I can agree with you or not agree with you. If I don’t agree with you, that doesn’t give me the right to call you childish names. Just like your aviator picture, you are voting blue on the left and I am voting red for the first time. Good post!

To be honest, I’ve since long stopped trying to second-guess what drives people in the US, as that lot is obviously crazy! :joy:

Sadly, this problem isn’t unique to the US.

The dumbing down caused by neoliberalism has affected the entire modern world.

Indeed, but that specific mental virus started in Chicago, before spreading out from there a bit everywhere. Compared to its capacity of nuisance, and to its obvious persistence, covid is just an insignificant anecdote.

Trump is clearly both racist and and fascist,so if you vote for Trump you are endorsing his stance, which is bleeding obvious.
The GOP is a lot different now,a lot of their supporters will presumably vote for Harris or stay home.
Voting blindly, very common world wide, will explain why many will vote for Trump, not necessarily true…Mum and Dad voted GOP,so we will!

You also have a non-insignificant amount of evangelical loons that believe voting for democrats makes you Satan’s spawn. There’s a reason Trump is pretending to be a Christian all of a sudden when he never gave a shit about religion his whole life.

Is Trump not in this mainly for what he can financially gain out of it?

I believe Trump is as well. However, I’d bet there are many of his supporters that like his views without understanding the implications of them or in fact that everything he shouts about is bollocks.
The converse is true as well. Some are fully on board with it. Its the GOP members that interest me in this. They must know, and go along regardless.

Voting blue and voting red are not equally valid options. You are supporting a racist scumbag, who is a threat not only to your own country but to the entire world.

At least own up to it. By the way, your candidate of choice is doing everything in his power to make sure that your right to vote for whoever you want becomes meaningless.

Isnt that why most people want to become politicians?

A threat to my country and the entire world? That’s news to me. How many wars were going on when he was in office. How many wars are going on now?

Wars are not the only threat.

His climate beliefs, economic beliefs, humanitarian beliefs and so on are all problematic at best.

He will associate himself with other like minded people and will push a populist and anti democratic agenda. As a result he will achieve very little in resolving peoples problems.

The current war in Gaza is indirectly due to Trump, as he fanned the flames during his tenure, allowing the construction of the US embassy in Jerusalem (a former taboo), and above all, backing Netanyahou all the way, encouraging him to go on with his repressive policies in Gaza and the West Bank.

All the recent noises coming from his camp actually encourage Israel to expulse all people from Gaza and annex the land, thus to commit a full-scale genocide. Netanyahou tries to hold on to power until the US election because he knows that if Trump is elected, he’ll have a better chance of withstanding all the forces currently trying to evict him, and to pursue his current abhorrent actions.
