What about Obama locking kids up in cages and drone strikes? Bush’s weapons of mass destruction? Joe Biden’s family racking in millions of dollars and that wonderful son, Bill Clinton’s sex scandal, Lyndon B. Johnson famous words "“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference… I’ll have them niggers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years”. Plus many many more.
All presidents have done good and bad stuff. What’s your point?
That’s the problem right there. People willing to ignore all his racism, toxicity, incompetence and stupidity just because he’s promised to do something that appeals to them on a personal level.
What does that make them other than egotistical fools? Their own democracy and freedom is at stake but reduced taxes matter more to them.
Trump supporters can offer a wide range of reasons for their choice. None of them is compelling.
I think the antagonistic part was to mention “Do you not understand how pathetic it is to speak like that to a brown immigrant”. 100% no need for that when reading my original response, and it infers that my post was racist due to someone who read it happens to be brown.
I understand and agree, and this is my point - what are people willing to overlook to still put their support behind him?
The other question about that is if Republican ideology is so important to them that they are willing to overlook all this awfulness, how much of that are they even getting with this guy? I had a real knock down fight with a log cabin republican (the gay wing of the GOP) friend of mine over his support of Bush in 04 given how homophobic that campaign was. The thing is though, at least Bush was an actual Republican and this guy was getting a trade off of seeing a real Republican party platform that would be pursued. Trump isn’t. That is why the likes of Cheney have bolted. Not because he is awful and a danger to the country, but because there isnt even a traditional Republican agenda on the table to pursue as a trade off for sticking with him.
While I actually don’t agree with what he said about post birth abortions, there is such a thing where the abortion fails and the baby lives anywhere from hours to days. The statistics are very limited due to the comparatively small sample size when compared to successful abortions, and that the Dr’s that perform the abortions are not required to give explicit details on the condition of the baby (birth defects) and cause of death. This is why the VAST majority of Americans don’t want 100% ban AND no restrictions.
