Should we hold big business to set of rules that allow fair competition, or should monied interests be allowed to get in bed with government and protect each other?
Is this not happening already? Musk is the latest, possibly more overt version. Ultimately I do not think he cares for Trump - it is more about the support base heās after rather than wanting Trunpā¦
I get the both sides angle, but this is so far in excess of business as usual (also, full disclosure, working in a strategy role in a highly regulated industry I actually value the so called revolving door between government and industry and think a lot of the criticisms of it are misplaced and based on a poor understanding of how to effectively regulate the sectors).
I think Musk is doing it because it precisely because he knows Trump has no interest in the actual work of government and will let people like Musk do whatever they want if the volunteer to take responsibility from him
I wonder if it is that plus his supporters and specifically, his supporters where he has business interest. It feels like it is as much about broad as it is narrow.
Found this on aol re the Arab American vote, especially in Michigan. I always thought it was 100% the Gaza war, so I was a bit confused about the shift as I couldnāt see anything that Trump would have done differently under the same circumstances. I was under the impression it was a revenge vote from the community, however this snippet added some extra context that I had not thought aboutā¦
This is a shift that started several years ago, around 2022, when there was sexually explicit material in books in public school libraries, and the community felt, you know, [they wanted] to assert parental rights. They did not want their children exposed to these at whatever age it was," said Luqman.
āIām not one of those people that was in those buckets. I am very liberal. But once Oct. 7 happened, that solidified support for Republicans among some people within this community.ā
Biden won by +100k votes, so not sure if it will have enough of an impact in this election, if this shift is legitimate.
Re the fat pig comments. There is an epidemic of obesity in the US so it makes sense that he is engaging with this voting demographic. It also shows that he no longer being sexist as this is not being used solely to describe Rosie.
@sandsoftime
I think seeing that behind the counter would have pushed me into going full Karen and complaining to Corperate about vermin in the kitchen
